The only bad part was when your neighbor waits untill the rain is poaring down to roll up his awning and you go out to help

The second bad part is when you find out your grey tank is full when its also pouring down buckets right after you've gone inside after helping your grateful neighbor with his awning.

This was a great Rally! We had seven trailers and 11 dogs. The RV Park was very nice with full hookups and clean showers. On Saturday we all headed for the crater which is just down the road 5 miles from the park. If you have not seen Meteor Crater it is really BIG. Many of us made the short drive to Winslow, just to be standing on the corner!

A short distance from the RV Park is an old abandon building. It is located on what is left of Rt 66, the Mother Road. Several of us went to the site to check it out. We found out later that it was the American Meteorite Museum.

Here's a few more pictures of various fun stuff. Any picture of the crater could not do it justice so I pieced together three photos for the one here. Just so you get an idea of size, there could be twenty football games going on all at one time with 2 million spectators watching. Now that's BIG.

We were treated to some wonderful sunsets over the San Fransisco peaks north of Flagstaff almost every night and had a few storms just after dark on a few nights. One evening had a spectacular lightning show.

Here's another picture of the American Meteorite Museum as it was in 1950 although with the years of the cars shown, I think it to be a little older than that. The museum opened in the early thirties.

Now I am really sorry we missed this rally. Sunsets followed by rain storms and lightning shows..........the best one could ask for in the high desert. Great pictures Brad.

How were the temps?

Richard,

Any chance that the ruins are on BLM land? It would be a great location for boondocking. The side by side photos tell the story, str8strm would probably be asking "where is that car now?"

O.K. I'll come by and pick up that old wagon this week.

If the old Museum is on BLM land it would be a great place to camp and play with Metel detectors.

The campground was not crowded and was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a small store with a Subway Sandwich shop as well as a gas station ($3.09 for regular).

The ruins is on private land and appears to get a bit of traffic. Here are a few things that a metal detector might find....

Also, Greg and Debi have visited the site as well....

Well I have found a cowl with I.D. plate for a 38 Pontiac Woody. Seems I could add a 58 Chevy and an oldsmobile to my list.
