Informal SECU Rally, Fort Pickins, FL Aug 12/16
Come one come all. There is going to be an informal SECU and friends rally at Fort Pickins, FL Aug 12 to 16. Looks like the E0 section will be fun central. So far several have committed to attend. It is a National Park Campgroud so Access/Annual rates are only $13 a night. Hope to see you there.

I've got to get some work done on my Interstate— had an argument with a low-hanging tree branch; the branch won. But if the repairs are done in time, and any campsites are still available by the time I know for sure, then I'll be there.

I will be able to make it. I have doctor's appointments on the 11th and the 17th, so arriving the 12th and leaving the 16th works for me.
There are 62 sites available for reservations according to Reserve America. Where will you guys be?

I will be in E034, arriving the 12th, leaving the 17th.
Craig, it is on the fb page. Someone else posted it back on the 9th. Looks like a small group, maybe 4 trailers. I believe they are all reserved in the E area.

I'm in C007. But that's okay. The campground doesn't look all that big, and from C to E isn't very far to walk. Besides, I picked site C007 after looking on Google Earth, and noting that the site seems to have a tree strategically positioned to provide afternoon shade. Most of the sites have no shade.

Wish we could make it, but it looks like I'm helping move our son that weekend. Instead of 1000 miles (round trip) south, I will be driving 900 (round trip) north.

Pro, correct it is not a big place. The way temps have been going lately every little bit of shade helps.

If anyone is still planning to come to Fort Pickins this week it is hot, nasty sticky melt black top hot. Outside skin temp on shady side is 103. Personally I will not be spending a lot of time outside when the sun is up.

I'm here. My shade tree isn't very big, but it is strategically located to block afternoon sun. Even with the shade, it was still brutal when I arrived and set up. I can only imagine what it was like for folks with no shade.
I think I will revive the tradition of the afternoon siesta.
Oh, and from about 4:30 to 6:30, some kid clear on the other side of Loop C pitched a two-hour hissy fit that could probably be heard in bloody Key West, let alone all over the campground. "I don't wanna go home! You're ruining my life! I wanna stay!" How can someone so small have a voice so big? I commend myself for showing enough restraint to NOT go over and tell the misbegotten larva that she'd better go home because no one else in the whole campground wanted her to stay one second longer than necessary. I settled for muttering under my breath at the time and venting here on the Forums now.
