Not a bad first experience at all! As a matter of fact, I am really looking forward to my next International in Salem next year…hope some of you will decide to give it a chance.

Shari
Shari, sounds like you had a blast. Although, with all that oversized aluminum around you making your trailer look small, it looks like the flags on your coach will make it tip over if you get a high wind...
Were you able to get in to town at all, or were you pretty much at the rally site the whole time?

Thanks for "Shari" ing

Shari,
You have literally made me so envious and at the same time upset with myself.

I had oppurtunity to be a part of this event also. I was supposed to attend and give a seminar on "Still Working" aimed at the working attendees. I was invited by the International Rally Committee.

I opted out at the last minute to make room for alternative plans made by my wife .

I am envious that you had oppurtunity to be an integral part of history, "The Golden Anniversary", and I thank you genuinely for your contribution (s) to our Family. Without folks like you, we would have no future.

My hat is off to you!

Smily

InsideOut -- can we see what your winning bulletin board looks like?
Actually, I don't think I have a picture with my camera...but I know one was taken by Forrest as his wife was the creator of the board...hopefully he will post one. I believe they are still on the road taking a lesuirely way home ~

The wind DID bend one of our flag poles...the center one with the two flags. We 'normally' fly smaller 2'x3' flags, but not wanting to offend flag protocol we switched to 3'x5' so our US Flag would not be smaller than the President's flag which is 3'x5'.

I actually spent a lot of time in town at the Expo Center where most of the activities were. The enticement of A/C there was enough to make the 30 minute drive each way worthwhile.

Great recap, Shari--congratulations on all the achievements!

Any idea whether Salem, OR is the last International?

Also--I just see a blank box titled "attached thumbnails." Is anyone else not seeing the photos?

No...I haven't heard that at all.

I DID hear that the 2007 International is already in the planning stages and will be in Georgia.

Yup...even my quirky Safari (web browser not Airstream) shows the pics of Maxwell all shiney and mirror like.

MM: The 2007 International Rally will be held at the Georiga Ag and Convention Center in Perry, GA. This facility has held many, heavily attended RV gatherings and sounds very well suited to a WBCCI International Rally.

Thanks 47WeeWind. We'll have to make that one for sure.

We are waiting to see if Airstream will offer the 30' Safari in the Special Edition before we place our order. One of the Airstream factory folks hinted that they will be releasing it in July so we are carefully monitoring the AS website on a daily basis these days.

Joining the WBCCI is one of the things we plan on doing our first year. We have attended a couple of unofficial mini-rallies or gatherings with some really nice folks from Tennessee and Georgia that weren't associated with WBCCI and think being members of the club will appeal to us. The next of the gatherings will be held in North Georgia tentatively the last week end in October and we plan on attending it, too.

How was International?

Greetings muddy_hollow!

I suspect that the speculation is based on Jim Franklin's (then First Vice President), proposal put forth in the March Blue Beret to realign and reduce the number of Regions within the WBCCI as well as to restructure the International Rally and make it a "traveling" attachment to one of the Region Rallys each year. My understanding is that the topic was discussed at the delegate assembly but there wasn't any final action on the proposal.

Rally in 2007

Though it wasn't announced, most people we talked with expect the 2007 Rally to be in Perry GA. The changes you allude to are years away and may not happen.
