For those who have never been to the Mogollon Rim in Arizona, it is truly a spectacular place. Below is a brief overview:

Overview

This group campground is situated in a tall ponderosa pine forest, just down the road from the popular Woods Canyon Lake in north central Arizona. The shaded campground is a nice hideaway for large groups with opportunities for boaters, anglers, hikers, families and photographers.
Natural Features:
The campground is situated in a thick forest at an elevation of 7,500 feet. Wildlife viewing includes birds, squirrels, deer and elk. Hikers who venture onto nearby trails are afforded expansive views of the land beneath the Mogollon Rim.

The Mogollon Rim, pronounced by locals as "muggy-own," is a 200-mile long cliff in northern Arizona that ranges between 5,000 and 7,000 ft. in elevation and serves as the geographical divide between the cool high country above and the hot, dry desert below.

Summer temperatures can be very pleasant because of the elevation. However, the rainy season often brings afternoon thunderstorms from late June through August. Visitors should come prepared for rain and cool nighttime temperatures.

Are there still openings for this rally? If not, please add our name to the waiting list, otherwise see you next year, enjoy the fellowship there.

We are only a couple of weeks away from the rally, and it's time to put forward a very light agenda.

Arrival will be on Thursday July 3 Check in is 2pm for Crook Campground. We plan to arrive a little early to start setting up and to greet everyone.

Thur - Happy Hour & Snacks at 5 or so, no rigid times, as folks will be arriving and setting up.

Friday July 4 - 5pm - ??

We will have burgers, dogs, buns, and condiments. We ask that you bring a side dish for the 4th of July Cookout. Due to fire restrictions, we will not likely be able to use charcoal, but should be able to use gas grills. We will be bringing ours, if we could ask that others bring a grill, we should be good with cooking outdoors.

Due to fire restrictions in the area:

There are no fireworks allowed, and we will not likely be able to have a campfire. Gas fire pits may be possible, but have not been able to confirm. We have been having a very dry year this year, so fire danger will be high.

Saturday July 5

Bring your watercraft (non motorized) the lake is nearby as well as great hiking and cycling trails. A good day to enjoy the stunning scenery of the Mogollon Rim and the Woods Canyon Lake area.

Happy Hour - snacks at 5ish

Sunday - Check out is Noon

Hey Crabbey...Hope you have been well... Most likely no 4CUers are there this weekend... as it's a reserved group area and the 4CU has it beginning Thursday...

You in the neighborhood??

Wednesday ... Just heard from Louis, who is already up at the rally site (Crook Campground)...he asked me to post that there is no electricity available, even in the ramada...so come prepared for no electricity at all unless you use a generator...

See you all Thursday afternoon!

Wanted to wish you all a good gathering for this weekend. We just came down the hill yesterday as we came home from a Nebraska vacation. Have to go to work.

Have fun.
