If no one is in the goup site, they should let you stay there. Remember that the group site is dry camping, but they have a rest room with showers. I need to call the park on Monday, I will find out more info on early and late. Don't forget your hat!

We Are A Comin'.....!!!!!!!

Hello all!

Just got done with the family/work schedule wrestle and there is a great gap that this FCU event will fill!!!!!!!!

Bringing me and mine - PLUS SilverToy!, lookin' for all of you out there....! Looking forward to meeting all of you.... The more the merrier!!!!!! Looking forward to putting faces with a lot of the ASF names and to meeting LOTS of new folks.... with trailer tours as a part of the package! "I'll show you mine, if you show me yours!"

Will be needing a spot that will accomodate the big 34'er without too much issues. Saw the site photo and it looks to be able to adjust to all sizes, but then there are some spot/trailer sizes that are 'simply' above others on the space issue.... I won't complain, but there a few issues that some shorter trailers simply don't have....

Anyway, looking forward VERY MUCH to having this event as a begining for the FCU and all that it offers going forward...!

LONG LIVE THE FCU!!!!

See everyone there!

Axel

Yes and No
Tarantulas enhabit all of the South West desert area. The chances of seeing one are very slim. First of all they are nocternal. Second, they do not travel very far from their nest (hole in the ground). The exception to this would be when the males travel in earch of a mate. The time period for that would be June - October. Maybe you should stow your awning at night just to be safe....

Chances are mighty slim, I've been here 27 years and haven't seen a one. Wrong time of year for other dangerous southwestern critters that are famous for being unique to the southwest too. Other than Richard, you should be safe.

tee hee hee thanks to you both! As much boondocking in the desert we do I'm surprised I hadn't seen one sooner. Going Campin and I plan on being there regardless. Sounds like it'll be alot of fun.

Count us in!

We'll be down in the Tucson area in February. Just a hop-skip-jump.
We'll need a spot for a 34.5' motorhome (I haven't changed our info, yet.)

The spots are mostly all the same. I parked my 25 ft Trade Wind and had enough room for my TV in front. That's over 40 feet. If you have a toad, you can park it next to the spot, plenty of room.

If there are tarantulas within 20 miles, crkwolf will probably find them.

But tarantulas aren't even dangerous! (except possibly in Australia, according to Animal Planet) ... this is from the OSU site:

They will only bite humans when seriously provoked. Bites are not considered dangerous and cause little lasting pain. Bites are no more painful than a bee sting, and its symptoms should be treated similarly. Some have a dense covering of special hairs on the abdomen, which, when dislodged, cause skin irritation. This is mechanical rather than chemical in nature.

The most amazing thing I know about them is that there are reports of them living 40 years!

Thanks, Flycaster.

Speaking of Tarantulas, get Michael to tell you about our rest area stop.

It's been many years since I was a camp nurse, but old habits die hard. You always check your shoes, bedding, and yes, even under the toilet seat for "creepy crawlies". Just in case.
