Is it OK for a newbe to attend w/o his A/S. I just got mine and it needs a little work first. I have commited to joining the WBCCI but am searching for which unit will suit me. I would like to come by just to mingle and see some ideas,
You are absolutely welcome to come check us out and kick the tires, so to speak. Just don't kick the tires on the Geo, it just might be in the campfire.
The PO of the Tracker has already kicked the tires(he missed, and kinda left us with the 'cosmetically challenged' look) but now we don't worry about hitting anything.
And me with 3 x 60+ ft Maple trees laying in my back yard after a couple of huge windstorms and wanting someone to come chop them up and take them home (or to a good CG) for firewood and not having any takers while my Southern Buddies are out driving around the State looking for anything that will burn .
Of course after a week of fairly steady rain it will take a month or two to dry out enough to actually burn.

So I was reading the Blue Beret and as always reading the cities of all the new members. As usual I emailed the SoCal MALs to direct them to Units they might fit into. When I saw that Shyla and Patrick Lambert were brand new MAL's from El Mirage, AZ. So being the rude guest that I am I emailed them to check out the FCU on the WBCCI webpage and advise and invite them to Mt. Picachu to meet ya'll. I kinda mentioned that:
A, They'd have a lot fun with you guys.
B, Your Membership dues were cheaper than MAL dues.
When you thumb through the new member section in your Blue Beret if you see Unit#000. Thats a MAL. We gotta get them in a Unit before they just fade away.
The more folks that visit with the FCU the more chance you'll get new members that fit right in.

Very nice of you to take the time to reach out to new member and give them a BIG 4CU welcome. We all should do that more. Heck we are such OUTCAST's that when we joind the WBCCI they never even listed us in the new members list of the Blue Beret. Now thats a real welcome

It only took WBCCI a little under 3 months to finally get a member number, etc. to us. Now it is too cold to get the numbers on the trailer. See y'all at Pistachio Peak.

I actually got my info/numbers pretty quickly once all was said and done. Never did show up in the BB but then I'm a shy guy so.......
There are hidden advantages to being part of the 4CU like being anonymous when we want to be.
It's just nice to be a part of something that has a life of it's own, isn't dependant on anyone or anything else to sustain it, and is full of highly motivated enthusiastic people. We are lucky to have found, and be included in, a great niche.
Merry Christmas to everyone and for those of you who are able to get out and enjoy your Airstreams over the holiday season when you tip back that first congratulatory drink maybe have a thought for those of us waiting our chance .
