Makes sense to me - peanut butter and jelly could only help Coors

Jan and I will bring out turkey fryer and stove. It's a cast iron 2 burner propane stove. It's the same setup we use for crayfish. It is the one right behind the crayfish in the picture below.

Grill your own

Ken J,
I think your idea of bringing a grill is a great idea.

Perhaps the suggestions should be for folks to grill what they bring. That way we can accomdate the folks on hot dog budgets and those that want a steak.

My personal opinion about the "everyone dumps a can of soup in the pot" is that is talking quantity not quality. If the majority wants to do that, its OK, but think I will pass.

Restaurants will be very crowded for sure. Getting anyone to cater your food into the balloon park is not likely to happen either.

I think we should plan to have pot lucks, group grill and/or eat on your own.

Hamburgers.....what we ought to do one night is maybe organize a big cookout - do a grocery store run and do burgers/chips/tater salid/slaw/dogs/beer all those things that taste so good (not so good for you) and fun to do - we can haul our big (at least somewhat big grill) down.

Another thing that has been done is a big soup dump....every one brings a can of soup and dumps it in a big pot - I know the RMVAC does that, but its been done forever at scout camps.

I agree, one or two pot lucks and maybe bring your dinner to the table the other nights. We need a few tables and a few canopies. I will bring one of each.

I plan on making cherry cobler in a dutch oven one night as well. maybe some ice cream to go with it.

i would agree with this advice. you not only have varying budgets but we have vegetarians, vegans, low car / high protein, ice cream only... you name the food pref; we got it.

so a pot luck or two, plan on bringing your "pref" food, going out optional. we will be boondocking, so bring a folding table and chairs for your group. a canopy is strongly advised... i do both kinds of music, country and western...

The "soup dump" is actually a chile dump...not too bad, but keeping the Zantac or Pepcid handy is a good idea...grilling sounds great, but so does the shrimp boil...I'm really getting hungry just thinking about all this...we'll bring an EZ up, small grill, and tables...
Ken- will there be a 'commons' area for grouping?
Lew- cold sounds good
Kevin- are you bringing your horses...?
Richard- will you be burning another chair...?

Coolers?

While I'll be bringing copious quantities of NW Micro-brews, I don't have any large coolers................sooooooo...............if any of the local folk have an extra (or two) for to keep the beers icy cold, please do bring them along.

Nothing spoils a camp-out like warm beer.

We did one of these in Vermont (smaller scale of course) and it was awesome. If you have never been up close with the balloons you will be overwhelmed with a feeling of other worldliness. Wish we were joining you.

We've got extra coolers and the new ice maker in the 345 works like a charm.

You can do soup dumps (cream as one and beef as another) or you can do chili dumps. Have done it many times, really not a bad way to go...

I'm sure we can find a caterer at this point if you like, but as has been mentioned everyone has differing diets - although everybody likes/eats greasy mexican food.....

As far as a grill, I still think its a great idea to have one and we can either do a grocery store run and everyone on there own - I think something like Lew suggested sounds great.

PB&J does help Coors - now pizza and Coors... mmmmmmmmmmmm
