Rick is picking up our AS from Oasis today! All fixed and ready for the Rally. Our last trip to Gilbert Ray was marred by a 0300 evacuation due to a propane leak. Hopefully that's all fixed and we can spend the whole weekend without mishap.

Looks like it's going to be nice weather for the Rally. Perfect bonfire temps.

And depending on which weather guessers report, a chance of wet on Wed. and Thurs. Better than the snow forecast for up in El Norte land on Wed. - Fri. along with a single digit low on New Years Day! Pack the long johns, feather quilt, and the grog fixings along with full propane tanks.

Need to smoke the salmon tomorrow and get the Stream ready to skedaddle.

Plan to overnight in Benson on Wed. and come in on Thursday!

PS: Milo, how is Dee-Oh-Gee doing?

Wow, the forecast changed! Def pack the long johns! Yikes!

...but then I looked at Tucson, Casa Grande and Picacho, quite a difference. No matter, it will be fun.

Exclamation Weather & traffic alerts

Bring the wool PJ's and extra firewood!

**Winter Weather will move into the Gila River Indian Community area for the 2010 years end**

Winter Weather will Move Into Southeast California and Southwest And South Central Arizona Later this Week. a Strong Low Pressure System is Forecast to Drop South over Arizona by Wednesday. this will Force Unusually Cold Air over the Region And, Combined with Moisture Being Pulled Down Off the Pacific Coast, will Provide Quite a Mix of Winter Weather. The First Impact will be Measurable Rain Beginning Wednesday Morning. Amounts will Range from a Tenth of an Inch in Southeast California and Southwest Arizona Up to One and a Quarter Inches In Elevated Terrain of Southern Gila County. The Rainfall Forecast For The Greater Phoenix area is in the Range of One Third of an Inch Up to Two Thirds of an Inch. by Thursday Evening Cold Air will Plunge Across The Region, Dropping Temperatures Well Below Normal. This, Combined with the Continuing Rain Event, will Likely Produce a Rare Occurrence of Snow Across Portions of the Greater Phoenix Area. At this Time It Appears That Areas at or Above 2000 Foot Elevation Are Likely to See Some Snow but with Little or No Accumulation. Higher Elevation Areas Such As Portions of Southern Gila county May See Up to 10 Inches of Snow Accumulation Through Friday Morning. Temperatures are Expected to be in the Low 20s Up to 30 Degrees Across Most of Southeast California, Southwest Arizona, and South Central Arizona for Both Thursday Night As Well As Friday Night. Thus this is Likely to be a Hard Freeze for Many Areas. Precautions Should be Taken to Protect Exposed Pets And Plants Susceptible to Freezing Temperatures. Temperatures are Expected to Begin Warming by Saturday Afternoon. Stay Up - to - Date on the Latest Forecasts by Listening to Weather Radio on the Public Service Band. More Detailed Information Is available from the National Weather Service in Phoenix on The
Internet at www.weather.gov/phoenix

We may have a little (southbound) I-10 road destruction. I re-read the advisory and it looks like they may be off for the holidays. If you're coming from Tucson you're OK.

Interstate widening continues between Tucson and Phoenix

TUCSON – From Sunday, Dec. 19, to Wednesday, Dec. 22, Interstate 10 will be
narrowed to one lane from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly, in both directions between Junction Interstate 8 and State Route 87, to allow crews to pave the roadway.

One lane of traffic will remain open during this time. The speed limit will be reduced to 65 mph in the construction area.

This segment of I-10 is being widened from two to three lanes in each direction to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety along this heavily traveled corridor.

What to expect during construction:

• Crews will work from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday
morning, each week. (The standard construction times of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
will resume Monday night, Jan. 3. During the holidays, the times are
adjusted to accommodate holiday travel.)

• Two lanes of traffic in each direction will remain open during daytime hours and on weekends.

• The $31.3 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project is
anticipated to be complete during spring 2012.

As always, drivers are reminded to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel. ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can
also affect a project schedule.

This will affect folks traveling east on I-8 to I-10.

Your rally co-host,
Ken

The gods are not shinning on us for this trip. Jan may have a broken foot, x-rays tomorrow. I am digging the front yard up tonight, the main from the meter has sprung a leak.

Hopefully we will recover from these set backs and be on site in a couple of days. Any chance for handicap parking?

The front yard looks like a battle zone, but the leak is fixed! The fitting that connects the copper line to the PVC cracked. It was about 3 feet deep in the yard and we have piles of dirt everywhere.

We are keeping our fingers crossed and will know more about Jan's foot tomorrow. Last year she did the Balloon Fiesta and the Region Rally in a plastic boot, so I don't see this being a problem.

If someone could save us a spot close to the Ramada, that would be great...

Lots of firewood...

Warm gear, Copy that!
We were expecting some possible snow on Wednesday but now seems like we're in the clear. At 4000' ft and 45 miles east of San Diego, it would be our first/last of the year! We bug out Thursday AM for the haul to Picacho direct. See ya sometime in the late afternoon-ish.
Look forward to seeing ya'll. hmmmmm lots of firewood...got it.

Richard, we will save a spot next to Mike And Tracy for you guys. There is a good walkway to the ramadas and fire pits. I believe that they are both handicapped sites.

We hope to see you soon.

Things are looking a bit iffy for us, too. Karen's got a nasty flu bug, but appears to be getting better. We'll see.

We are not looking good here. The pooch still can barely walk. Is not allowed to jump, run or climb stairs. We'll check with the vet on Thurs. for a final go/no go.

Our fingers are crossed.

Things are looking much better today. The repair on the water line is no longer an issue and Jan's foot is not broken. She is not walking 100%, but should be fine.

We are packing the warm threads and should be at the park tomorrow afternoon.

Milo and Karen will be missed, but D-O-G does come first. Does this mean that Gracie will be the only yellow lab at the rally?
