Take that Christmas sweater your mother gave you, never wear, never will that is taking up valuable closet space. Throw it in a box, wrap it up and exchange it for someone elses hoping it is better than yours and your mother does not expect you to wear the sweater sometime.
There is often a variant which is a bit more sadistic, and fun. If someone else likes your new acquisition they have the right to usurp it. Sometimes this is a good thing. It can be stolen up to 3x. This makes being the last guy to pick the place to be.

I have an idea that an ugly sweater from mom will mere childsplay this year. Sergio has been holding on to his gift since early June, and we have some lovely items left from Deadhorse.

Kingfisher,
Are you getting an idea about what a white elephant sale is? Have anything newish (boxed, unopened even better) that you hate and want to get rid of? It is hilarious (especially after one of Louis' martinis).

Sergio and I just had dinner tonite with Ken and Linda and we have put the final touches on the planning. We will be sending a schedule via email to all who have signed up over the next week or so. One of the things we are going to do this year is have a Pancake breakfast one morning, graciously provided by Bob, Lou and Julianne. We do ask that each rig be prepared to provide enough of their favorite breakfast meat to feed those in their party.
There will be more to follow. This is going to be great, and it looks like we are going to have many new folks joining the 4CU.

The damn old white Elephant said the trailer is to small to get in.So he going to stay home and drink Bloody Mary's.

I will be borrowing Jimmini's binoculars...last time, Richard and I took the 'scenic' back route out of the NO-WAY ascent...a few miles later, we lucked into a ride back to the entrance to the loop...climb on, you game folks...I'll watch...well, maybe I'll have a Bloody Mary and a shrimp while watching...coming early, staying late...

Hike to the top is optional
Mike,
I'm actually considering just doing the big loop vs. climbing the peak this year (unless there is overwhelming demand). Take the Hunter trail up to the saddle then descend to the Sunset Vista trail on the back side. Probably about 5 miles for the whole hike back to the Quail Loop. Hikers will still get to experience the steel cable hand holds and steep steps (crawling and sliding on your backside is OK here) that the trail is "famous" for. And they can veer off for the peak summit from the Sunset Vista junction. That is what I'm planning. I think we can also do some warm up hikes on the other days too.

Ken,
The back loop is relatively easy, once you go down the vertical drop that doesn't appear on the map...sliding on your butt would be easier if the drop wasn't so steep...maybe I'll just drive to the backside turnaround and ferry you folks that want the scenic loop...HINT...take at least two bottles of water, and DON"T put yer sandwich in a poor man's tupperware(wally bag)...mine tore, and a braver person than me rescued my sandwich from the edge of a precipice...who WAS that masked man...?

Here is a map of the park and the trails. The back trail (Sunset Vista) is long and has a few interesting spots. I'm thinking peak this year because I did not do it last time. Anyone else?
BTW, we will be camping in the Quail Group Area which is also on the map.
