Thumbs up VAC Rally

Wayne and Linda thanks for a great rally! We had a blast. Wish we had had the time to do everything planned.

We had a great time despite the rain. Wayne and Linda did a beautiful job hosting. Thank you so much for all the goodies and t-shirts! Food was delish!

This is what we did yesterday... We were on our way to a waterhole when this action caught our eye. Tons of people witnessing a histoic run of a 400 ton transformer making it's way to North Conway. 3/4 of an inch clearance in some spots. They had the transformer on a hydraulic shifting car that they could move load left or right if need be. You can see us standing on the rocks a little lower than the filmmaker. Listen for the stress sounds of the tracks...it was like fireworks going off.

Holy cow! I guess the scenic railroad takes on a few side jobs, from time to time. That very same locomotive took us for a ride this afternoon. After we pulled out of the rally, we decided to check out the town a bit, (I hate just heading home in the middle of the day...especially if its only a 2 hr drive for us), and decided to take a ride on the train. (free ticket for dads on fathers day, and all!).
a fun way to cap off a great weekend.

Thanks to Wayne & Linda for a really great rally! Rain? What rain? I didn't even notice.

The first rally we ever attended was a VAC rally at this same spot hosted by the them back in 2001, so this was double-retro for us.

A few other vehicles on site with an odd number of wheels (something other than 2, 4 or 6):

Watching the train come through the pass was very interesting, we even put a few coins on the track for a souvenir. Linda thanks for the tip about Moat Mountain, we definitely had some of the best brisket ever, next time you'll come with us for sure.

Thanks to all for a wonderful time.

Gosh I'm still sad we missed this.

We were so sick though we had to cancel. Wife still ill but hopefully on the mend. I don't have any trips planned until we go Panning For Gold in New Hampshire at the end of August.

I miss my friends.
