Ok we are in. TV has new batteries and snow has been outlawed from the driveway.

Will probably overnight at Meteor Crater RV Park - could be a possible location to form up for a caravan around Flagstaff and down to Dead Horse.

Aaaarrrggh, an extra ration of grog for all hands!

Rest

Well I am off to Quarzsite to rest up from the 4CU New Year rally at PPST so I will be ready for this rally next month if they do not close all the AZ State Parks.

Army in Phoenix?

I have lived in Phoenix for many years and the only Army I have ever noticed was this one:

The National Guard of Arizona has an Engineering battalion at the Phoenix Armory. There is a position for a healthcare operations NCO, and she is overly qualified. Nothing is for sure, but we are hopeful. I need to finish my bachelor's degree in nursing, so I hope there is a program available in Phoenix. Also need to find a job out there once I hit the ground.

If it happens, we are likely going to tow the Ambassador out for her and our son to live in while I finish things in Missouri. I don't know where she will stay, but I am hoping to find a safe place. AZ forum members will become our family as long as we are there.

This isn't for sure, but hope to hear something by month's end.

Steve

This is great news altho moving is something I really despise. Keep us posted as to the news. The NG Armory the one on east McDowell or somewhere else? Know a guy who works there if it is.

Hey Steve, the Phoenix area has excellent nursing programs. Let me know if you need some web sight addresses.

I would like to know any programs that are not online universities.

You can PM me so it isn't hijacking the thread.

We are 5 weeks from walking the plank! I have been thinking about a few items on the list. I have come to realize that Pirates ate spoiled meat and many other not so appealing dishes. I don't think the Pirate Cooking Contest is going to work. I am leaning towards a Friday night Chili Dump. The RMVAC has one the first night and it is always a big hit. Everyone brings a small pot of chili and we mix them all together and serve it up.

How does that sound?

Only 4 weeks until the rally!

The scouting party is headed to Dead Horse today to bury the treasure. We are going to have a treasure hunt and the winner will get a fine gift.

We will also have the traditional white elephant exchange, so you have plenty of time to find that perfect gift. We had some great stuff passed around at the New Years Rally and I expect to see some of those gifts back on the table again.

The governer of New Mexico has CLOSED all the State Parks in NM for 2 weeks. Went by Ute Lake State Park in Logan (Home) and there is a rope strung across the entrance saying this facility is closed. Saving Money. NM Gov has a multi million dollar deficit.

That's news to me! The parks were closed for one day a couple of weeks ago, were closed yesterday, and have three more one-day furloughs to go, as I understand it. Here's the press release:

http://www.emnrd.state.nm.us/prd/Med...rloughDays.pdf

The financial situation in the state is hardly happy, but not as bad as in Arizona or California. Most buzz about the upcoming legislative session indicates so far that we'll have to live with a temporary tax increase of about a half percent, possibly a little more.

Meanwhile, the state moved forward with the addition of a new state park near Santa Fe:
