Milo...Assuming you're taking I-17 north from Phoenix, the most direct route is to take the exit near Camp Verde for route 260 northwest to Cottonwood.

By the way, for those coming in via I-40, we do not recommend towing on Alt 89 through Jerome to Cottonwood from the west because of the tight streets in Jerome ... nor south on Alt 89 from off I-17 south of Flagstaff through Sedona because of the switchbacks in Oak Creek Canyon. Those places are better seen without a trailer in tow.

Travel safe!

What off ramp do you suggest for those of us coming via the 40?

If you're coming in from the west on I-40 you can either go all the way to Flagstaff, then south on I-17 to the same exit for 260 to Cottonwood...

OR...and this may be a bit shorter, but it's really a toss-up time-wise because it's not all freeway...you can exit I-40 at Ash Fork and take Route 89 South to Prescott...then route 69 east from Prescott to Dewey...and then east on 169 to I-17, then hop on I-17 north for a short drive to the exit for Route 260 to Cottonwood. When at Prescott try not to be tempted to take Alt 89 to Cottonwood...it's shorter on the map but it takes you right up over Mingus Mountain, and through Jerome and twisty turns and narrow streets...

Hope this helps...see you there!

Couple differences this time.

It'll be daylight when we arrive this time so everything will look different and we probably won't be coming straight through. I get real alert after ten hours on the road driving through darkness snow and ice.

Most importantly last year I had directions. This time all I remember about the off ramp is that it comes after Montezuma's casino.

Take the safe route

Goin,

TBRich is right, take I40 to 17 south just before Flagstaff, then West on 260. We have taken the "shortcut" down Alt89 through Jerome in a blizzard, the only thing I can think of that would be worse is taking that route with a 25' AS. On second thought, if the weather keeps up like it is, I would consider the southern approach via I10.

We'll take the 40 out and the 10 back in. A little variety...

When are you going to get there?

We saw this news bit last night and wondered where we could get Spam for $1.88 a can...certainly not at our regular grocery store! It's not a bargain here...over $3 can. We have experimented and invented a wonderful treat using Spam for the Rally...can't wait to see everyone's reaction.... Bring your appetites... You've heard of "Hog Heaven"? We all might be in "Spam Heaven" at Dead Horse 3!

A week from today...

I will be at Deadhorse and reeling from the *ahem* aroma of Spam.

A morning Bloody Mary with Jim and Min and a full days of relaxing, chatting with friends. Napping. Life is always good when camping.

If you buy the 8-pack at Costco, the cost per can is around $2.20...

Got the AS all washed down and headed in to fire up the fridge. Opened the refer door and found a very healthy growth of black fungus. BLECH! It was clean and dry when it went into storage, I don't know what happened. It was about an hours worth of heavy scrubbing to get it clean. I'll let it air dry a few days and see how it is doing.

So check your fridges!

It is raining in Tucson right now.

When in storage we leave the fridge and freezer doors open.
