Garlic Necklace

Many centuries ago, the Transylvanian's found that a full necklace of garlic will ward off the Spamians.

Over the years this message has been lost. Spam, an ancient food, was reborn in the 20th Century.

You will understand the curse of the centuries, when beef, pork, chicken, fish, and other meats are no longer available in your markets.

This is a clear and present danger.

I usually don't post after a rally as others say it better and with pictures.

We had a blast! We got to visit with very dear friends and that alone made the the trip worth it.

Weather underground and Yahoo weather lied. No rain, sleet or snow. Cool bright sunny weather the whole time.

Traffic was light and in AZ you get to tow in the HOV lane! We learned that when a vintage blew by us on the 17N.

Left blinker and hit the gas.

The food was fantastic. (except the SPAM. Shiver) The Margi ball morphed into a Mai Tai ball.

Some random no names mentioned incidents and thoughts.

A certain very talented Airstream interior designer refused to do our trailer in a Tijuana whorehouse motif.

A full grown man will fit head first through a Herh wind over the commode. Thank heavens the lid was down. Andy has a free kit to avoid that situation.

To the wonderfull couple who make morning possible with Bloody Marys and the day brighter by their humor and warmth.

To that damn Beatnik who after teaching me some very valuable travel tips tried to stuff me into the dump tank.

The guilty are named.

Saturday night nights final five were Scrappy, Louis, Sergio, Karen and myself. Avoid the first three listed late at night after a few cocktails. You'll be sore from laughter the next day.

Thank you Richard and Jan for making this much fun possible.

Jan and I are home, but the party still goes on in Cottonwood. It looks like about a half dozen rigs will spend one more night at the rally.

Jan and I would like to thank everyone who made this rally such a big success. It's the people who make the rally and this year we had great people, but would you expect anything less at a 4CU event? Being hosts at a rally where everyone pitches together and has fun makes thing very easy for us. Again, thank you to everyone who attended the Luau!

In case you have not heard, the site has been reserved of 2010. Look for a thread later this year with all the details. Here is a hint to next year theme:

One final note, would anyone care to put a caption on the following pictures?

Thanks Jan & Richard for making our second DH rally a truly memorable one and for everyone making us feel welcome amongst you. We enjoyed seeing how Southwesterners like to rally! Will take a few ideas back to the NW and implement them into our rallys. You have a great rally group. Got to put faces with screenames and will enjoy being an associate member of the 4CU.

Hey all...we are still here in Cottonwood, one of 7 units (Clint & Kathy, Julianne, Mike & Tracy, Jim & Min, Sandy, John, and Terry & Greg) remaining for the "last hurrah" ...had a pleasant dinner together and then finished off most of the firewood. This was the first day there were any clouds and those went away about 4 PM...it was sad to see everyone leaving before us this morning after such a great rally filled with new memories with old and new friends alike... This is a wonderful group! Most will be leaving tomorrow we suspect, unless there is a big snow tonight (which we doubt), in which case we will be able to scrape together another dinner, no doubt! Thank you Super Hosts Richard & Jan for making this a great rally, and we are looking forward to and plannning for Dead Horse 4...Aaarrrggggh! There will be pictures later. Oh, and special sincere thanks to all those who helped resolve the truck issue we had with our truck (post #255, last pic)...it was Battery Power! What a great group, all willing and able to pitch in and make it happen.

Guess who's PLUGGED IN!!!
Min, thanks for the burgers...burp!...we have NOT run out of food...I know, I know...surprising thing at a 4CU rally...
Jan, is that apple juice in the bottle on the table, or do I need to call HAZ-MAT???
Sergio, I think the telescoping marshmallow forks are yours...? We have them, and, yes, you WILL get them back...maybe in a Victoria's Secret bag... with the book, and something else, but NOT Gingerbread LAtte...
Fire's kinda out, 'cept for the coals that blew to Montana...I'll get them next year...
WHERE ARE YOU GUYS???

The world outside the rally site...

The locations of 4CU rallies offer opportunities to see some amazing country. Here are a few photos from Tuzigoot National Monument, the Verde River, Sedona, and Oak Creek Canyon.
