Best,
I saw them once on a fishing trip in Canada. It is something I will never forget...

We lived in Central Alberta for several years and I remember being out on the skating rink in the back yard and watching the lights. It was awesome and has stuck with me for all these years. From time to time on trips into Northern Alberta and BC in the winter I've had the opportunity to watch them again, but nothing has moved as much as when we were kids. I guess you won't be seeing any Northern Lights at Dead Horse. Meteorite showers are fine too, but could you possibly arrange for them to happen before everyone sneaks off to their trailers? That way there will be fewer grumpy people in the morning.

By the way, did you wake any of the other campers up to watch the show or did you partake on your own? It might get a bit awkward banging on various trailers suggesting them come outside at 3 in the morning to look at the sky, but I know I'd appreciate knowing. I may not get up to watch, but at least I'd know that someone was outside keeping an eye on things.

I was on my own and then got my wife to join me. Several people ask me to wake them the next morning if the shower was as good, but it was not. By 3 am the next morning the tempature had dropped to the freezing level and the wind was blowing very hard. The shower was ok, but not good enough to go banging on doors

BTW, at Dead Horse last year Gary brought his very nice telescope and we were all trated to so close up viewing of several planets. He will be doing it again this year.

OK folks, the rally is 3 months away and it is time for interested people to sign up! If you have any questions, post them! This was a great event in 2007 and 2008 promises to be even better!

Best,
I just saw them for the first time from an airplane on my way to Alaska last week. Spectacular! I saw them from my ship when I was in the Navy 20 years ago in the North Atlantic.

Speaking of memories!
At the rally Dale "Peewee" Schwamborn will be visiting the rally. Peewees mother Helen was Wally's first cousin and the founder of the WBCCI. Peewee was on several of the clubs early caravans and was once the owner of Wally's gold Airstream trailer. I am sure we are going to hear some great stories about the history of the club.

I want to thank Bob Kelly for making the arrangements for Peewees visit. Thanks Bob!

Here is a picture of Peewee taken a "few" years ago. The trailer is #2 which was his mothers number. Anyone want to guess who had #1.

Mr Azfly, Mr Bob, and Mr PeeWee,
Couldn't agree more...Met Mr PeeWee as one of a large group, but was fascinated by his casual recounting of a history I desparately wanted to identify with, and found I could...didn't know that initially, but found out that 'airstream' was a globalization of a concept we all grew up seeking, but thought no longer attainable because of 'progress': celebration of life begins with recognition and subsequent rejecton of limitations...
More Flat Tire Flatulence(r) is available upon request, but quantities ARE limited, so get yer orders in asap...

We've decided to attend this rally to escape the rain in Oregon and hope for sun in Cottonwood! We camped there in May 2007 on our way to KS.....nice campsite! Lost our AS keys (somewhere).....and haven't been able to duplicate them since! Anxious to meet all the FCU members and guests............and learn some new rally traditions we can export to the PNW! Also want to talk to PeeWee Schwamborn relating to the African Caravan in '59......since we're planning on the trip in '09!

Is there a rally limit in the group camping area? We'll bring our genset. I hope we're still welcome?
We'll send in our check ASAP.

Glad to hear you can make the rally. We expect the same great weather we had at DH1, 60+ and sunny in the daytime and 40 and dark at night.

We are still not even close to being filled up. The site has around 24 paved sites and room for another dozen on gravel. Since we have reserved the entire site, generators are not a problem except during the quiet hours.

Peewee being able to attend is a real plus and I am looking forward to meeting him myself.

Maybe we could organize a key search event....

You all are very convincing. We are going to register today. Really looking forward to meeting the Four Corners group and seing others we have met before. Like Jordans, we are going on the Africa trip and would be interested in hearing some stories from Pee Wee.

See you there....

I refuse to take part in this thread. Unless, of course, somebody would volunteer to come up here and babysit the park in the snow while we go to the rally!

Count us in also! Will be cheap and save the 41 cents by bringing the check and form to the New Years rally.
