Are any of you going to the North Cascades/BC Rally on Camano Island from May 12-16?

shucks!

Hmhph! I'm doing my "Reach the Beach" ride that weekend in Portland. Riding my bicycle 100miles from Portland to the Beach. I'll be thinking of you while I'm out there!

In my own backyard too!

We live about 90 minutes away and I'm just not quite ready to roll out the '51 yet. Drat! I may have to take a drive there Saturday morning, though, to see what's all there. I've never been to a vintage trailer event, always cars. And it happens that this is the Monroe swap meet weekend - hmm, kill two neat things in one trip.....Is it an intrusion to come to look with pictures of my trailer in hand?

Shoot, I am too far away and too involved in my Caravel project to get up there. It would be really cool if someone could post some pics of the rally tho !!

I am going to an Oregon Rally in Stevenson in the Columbia River Gorge instead. I'll have to watch the N Cascades unit to see where their future rallys are. That's all such beautiful country, I'd love to go join them for a rally sometime.

Barry, I am certain you'll be welcome to show up and visit. At least every rally I've been to, people are very friendly and welcoming to new folks.

Good luck on your ride, Marc!

I'm not sure how many vintage trailers will be there, the guy I talked to said there are "some" in the two clubs. But we would be happy to show off our partially finished trailer, half beautiful, half beige. And the husband is a car nut as well.

Its is at the IOOF Campground, do you need directions?

I will definatly post some pics from the rally.

I just returned from the Stevenson rally with the OR Unit. This rally it was held in a woodsy park (Lewis & Clark RV Park in North Bonneville, WA), we had a potluck, a campfire (until the rain drove us inside), and stayed up the last night until 1AM playing cards. We also did a tour of Bonneville Dam and had dinner at the Crab Shack in Stevenson which has dining on an open deck with a spectacular view of the gorge. It was really a fun rally. We had lots of visitors who came by to see how our trailer turned out. The previous owner of my trailer was there, and had his rivet shaver, but no drill. Another attendee had a drill, so we got together and finished up all the rivets on my patch over the old heater vent. Couldn't hardly ask for a better weekend.

Can't wait to hear about the rally at Camano Island

Well the rally was great, very small, but great. We passed the campground on the first drive by, not noticing every one in a circle waving at us with their happy hour glasses. We were greeted with hugs and laugher, as if we'd been members for years. We were one of 3 vintage trailers. Steve Latimer brought his 70 something caravel, and another couple had their 76?? Caravaner, which I found out are very rare only one was given out per dealership. There were 3 couples in newer Excellas and a super huge motorhome. Potato bar on Friday and Potluck on Saturday kept our bellies full. Eventhough I beat the men at cribbage, and won my first game of joker, they still invited us back. We were relieved that they were such a caring bunch, and very laid back. Most of them had never heard of the Forum but I think I have them curious and I think I even sold some subscriptions for Rich. Everyone seemed to do their own thing and rally at 4:00p for happy hour. I will post pictures tomorrow.

Kathleen, so glad to hear this report. This is the unit we were thinking of joining since we're in that area. Could you please PM me with contact info for that unit? Our trailer is almost ready to hit the road.

Thanks - hopefully we'll see you at the next rally!

Fun, sounds like a great rally! I'll have to find a N Cascades unit rally to go to before the summer is over!

A lot of them are going to Springfield, so I think the next rally is at Camano Is again August 18-22, joint with the BC unit. Last year they said they had about 30 trailers in this little campground. It is woodsy and quiet, with the exception of the frog chorus in the evenings. Thanks Steph for encouraging us to check out a club.

It sounds like we missed quite a camp out. My "let's polish that Airstream" car buddies showed up Saturday morning to take a look, did some preliminary playing to determine what it is going to take, and then we set up for this Tuesday evening to go at it. In the meantime I ended up giving it a shot and got all of the door side done. While I had the refer vents off I thought I'd just do a quick propane leak test. Good thing I did, whoever installed the fridge hooked the line up, then pushed it back into position and scrunched the propane line to a point where with the trailer being towed it had caused a hairline crack. Good thing we caught it now versus it catching us! Look forward to seeing pictures. Barry

We thought of you when we drove through Monroe. The swap meet looked amazing. Jim was jittering at the idea of all the amazing things he could find. He had to contain himself, no project cars until we get the airstream and landcruiser done. One of the guys at the rally also has a Flying Cloud. But it sounds like you had a productive weekend anyway.

NCW Unit website has not been updated since 1999. They have been unable to get someone to make a new one, and this one cannot be accessed anymore to update. I offered my services, so maybe you will see one up and running soon. The BC group does have a great website, I think they even post the rallies for NCW as well since they do a lot together.
