Applefest Rally & Business Meeting

Hey everyone,

Here we go again.... with another fun weekend at Lake Forest Resort in East Wakefield, NH on September 22-24th. Several of us attended a rally here July 2005, and what a BLAST we all had. The lake was absolutely beautiful and tranquil. We even got to see loons on the lake.

Safari Field reserved- 40 rig limit
Cost-$25/night per rig which includes water and electricity.
  • NEU Fall Business meeting on Saturday, September 23 at 10 AM, and the Installation dinner Saturday evening. You may arrive early orstay late for an additional $25/rig per extra night.
  • We will have evening campfires and lots of fun. Kids and pets are welcome too! The campground has given us use of the clubhouse which includes tables, chairs and a kitchen. We will hold the business meeting, installation dinner and both breakfasts indoors at the clubhouse. The Saturday night dinner menu: grilled pork tenderloin w/apple stuffing, spiced apple sweet potatoes, waldorf salad, and hot apple pie sundaes.

We don't have planned activities other than meals and the business
meeting but there is much to do in the area. There is canoeing or
kayaking on Great East Lake, apple picking and walking or biking along
the one mile of well-kept and shady winding campground roads. The
outlets and shops of North Conway and Kittery are nearby, as are seven
18-hole golf courses and a Scarecrow Festival in Wolfeboro. Lake
Winnipesaukee is just minutes away, as is majestic Mt. Washington.
Please let us know you are coming by September 12 so we can plan for the
meals.

I always keep a stash of them in the Gray Lady, but I don't carry that many. I think what he really wanted to say was that M&M will be serving at every meal. We know we'll have lots of help and look forward to sharing a few apples with you.

Here's an apple tidbit for you:

Long ago, in Cumberland, England, people would suspend apples from strings over the hearth. When the apples were fully roasted, they fell into a bowl of spiced, mulled wine that was waiting for them beneath. This practice was actually the precursor to the oven-baked apple of today.

Hey folks......if you haven't registered yet, hurry up before the September 12th deadline. This campground is very nice.

We can't wait to put our kayaks in the lake! Is anyone else bringing their kayaks?

Checking Schedule

We're thinking about going. Sounds like a good weekend and East Wakefield is very close to where we live in Kezar Falls, ME. Have to get out the New Hampshire Delorme Gazateer and see if there is a public boat launch on the lake. We have a small 14' runabout we use on lakes here in Maine and maybe we can get to use it for a second time this year before the season is over. Does the CG have a boat launch or dock or is the lake too small? Water skiing anyone? CharlieE

Yes, the CG does have a boat launch and the water is deep enough for water skiing. Bring your wet suit though as the water will be chilly that time of year.

Firedog - one of our greatest newbies. I will miss you at this gathering. Are you up for the October Harvest Moon/Great Pumpklin Rally in October? It's the last blast in regards to camping rallies for the NEU until March of 2007.

Miss Gail,

I will stay on shore, cell phone at the ready in case of any mishaps.
Actually, we don't have Kayaks so we will look really sad in the hope someone will let us try theirs out.
