Here's one of my favorite shots for starters. I'm working on a few more.

Last night in Santa Fe I started to feel like I was getting a cold and by the middle of the night I realized I had the worst cold anyone has ever had. Fortunately Barb woke up so someone could hear me moan; I need an audience. I'm glad it didn't hit me at the Fiesta so I could enjoy the balloons. I want to know who has infected me?

Someone left me a cake for my birthday last Thursday. I know she is named Elizabeth, but she must use a different Forum name because I didn't recognize her name. I never could find her after Ken told me about this. So, I want to thank her for her kindness. It is a pound cake made in an angel food pan. It is really good, especially with mint chocolate chip ice cream. I think I may know who left it, but I'm not sure. Please let me know who you are, by PM if you prefer, so I can thank you directly.

Another birthday was Lew Farber's (lewster). His was last Monday. He wasn't here this year, but he has been in years' past.

I see the gas balloons have all landed but one. That one is in eastern NC and has traveled 1,627 miles. They can't go much further or they'll be over the Atlantic. I hope they don't land in a swamp.

It was good to see people we met last year and many more this year. I can't remember all the names, but if we come a few more times I may recognize them. It seems 80-90% were first timers and one couple seemed to be from Australia. Must be a difficult and damp drive here. Shortest distance may be Placitas, just north of Alb. (about 20 miles)—Art, Margaret (and Jackie the dog) who were parked next to us. I have no idea whether we will return next year—by next spring when Ken sends out the invitations, we may come again.

I have yet to download photos—too much work—and they may all look like last year's anyway. The first time everyone takes hundreds of photos; the 2nd time, far less.

I'd tell more about this "worst cold ever known", but I think I'll go back to bed.

Gene

What a Sight to See!

Thanks for sharing! Now, if we could only get Albuquerque Police Department to put their cops in two Airstreams, we wouldn't have the two SOBs in the center foreground.

I am envious. My first and only balloon fiesta was in 1985 but not with an AS group. After that I became a teacher and could never go in Oct. However I am retiring in May. When my wife asked me what I wanted to do for a retirement celebration, it was a no brainier. I will be there in 2013. All of your pictures are awesome. I am so pumped for next year.

I agree! Thanks for the great photos, Sheridan.

The balloon Fiesta is on my bucket list now. I hope to make it next year.

Dan, the clock face peeking through the crowd is awesome! Along with others of yours, you really did a great job framing your images. Thanks.

BTW, you skipped out early Monday. We had a grea launch, a little late, but really turned out great. We missed saying goodbye, but it was too darn toastie in bed to rush out and catch you. Marty was also bummed.

Marty is calling you very bad names because you have captured a world-class image (and we didn't). You need to copyright it immediately and then submit it to the Fiesta for their advertising! Really!

Zep
