For those that had plans around the home comming I'm sorry they had to cancel it, but we were not able to go because we already had plans to go to Colorado and New Mexico which includes the baloon fiesta at the same time as the home comming. With the plans to delay it until next spring, we will now plan on attending if they annonuce dates early enough. Also with there new push on quality by next spring we should be able to see a cleaned up plant and new product with improved quality.

I don't know about plans for legal action, or that it's needed, but if it's true what thier PR guy said on thier forum, then I think they're in pretty bad shape. A good company doesn't see a need to publicly air thier problems, just make the necessary changes, we'll notice.Sounds like A/S was the victim not the customers. When I received my telephone call regarding the cancellation, I was given a choice of a refund or ---get this---leave my $$$ at A/S & when???? they had thier Spring homecoming I would get a $50.00 reduction. I was insulted that something for years I had such faith in was being handled by such incompetent people!!! Who ever came up with that idea, should have been the first one out the door. They already had my money for several months, now they wanted it longer? WOW, last time I checked A/S & Thor had a couple more $$ than myself. So-- if they're such a great Company & making all these changes for the better, why not begin by treating your customers right like-- send the full refund---include a letter of apology & a $50.00 coupon good for either the NEXT homecoming or at thier store. That would have shpwn some class!!!! I'll still be going thru Jackson Center this Fall & I'll see how good they have become. Right now I'm having troubles with the door latch--sometimes can't get it open without some banging & !!!! Don't know & don't want to find out, if when this happens, should we be INSIDE ( fire, etc) can we get out. I should probably measure that back emergency window for size. Let's see --we have the wife, Mr. Turbo & myself. Can't all go thru at once. Yes, I'm upset with A/S, not so much with the cancellation, but the way it was handled from the beginning. While it's true, everyone makes mistakes, it 's how you correct them that matters. A/S failed miserably on this. Hope the A/S lurker reads this post.
Off the box.

Unhappy Iy is slowly sinking in!

Amen to that! Today, the Blue Beret came with a full page ad for the Homecoming. Still more folks to get disrupted.

As time goes by, I get more and more aggravated at the handling of this thing. by Airstream. I had extensive plans concerning other people. My brothers are expecting me, one brother postponed a trip to see me. Another friend has committed to staying home so I can drop by. I can't justify a 3300 mile round trip withoutthe homecoming. I postponed some medical procedures in order to attend.

The idea of leaving my cash as a deposit towards a spring Homecoming at some unknown date is ridiculous. Then, If I couldn't make it at that unknown date for health reasons or other conflicts, they would probably charge me a cancellation fee!

If, as an Airstream person has posted elsewhere, they had plenty of folks sign up, they should have bit the bullet and done the deed regardless of their bottom line. I was brought up to stand up to my committments. Maybe, that is a lost art today.

I just looked at and saw a post on the Homecoming.

The Homecoming Festival has been postponed from the October date to sometime in the Spring/Summer of 2004. The exact date will be posted soon.

I understand that space is available at the Bill Thomas Rally for folks.

You know the real shame is that early October is a great time to be out and about in the Midwest. Cool temperatures and usually dry conditions. Spring time is always iffy due to storms and fronts passing through. While I couldn't attend this fall, I probably wouldn't put my $250 into a spring event. Too much of a chance to be sitting in rain.

Bottom line is that it didn't happen. As I have said on another thread:

I've never been to a Jayco, Coachman, Wilderness, etc homecoming (and we've had Jaycos for years).

I can hardly believe how some folks have behaved with this. I am totally floored at how some of us have reacted to this. Some of the comments I find very child like.....

C'mon folks...chin up...cowboys don't's a tight community we share. It makes no sense at all to slam them if you have not gone through the steps. Being in technology, I get the instant gratification all the time. Sometimes it takes time and folks need to understand that. It's not always on the timetable you want. I know it sucks that the homecoming was canceled, but really. For those that made additional commitments, you did so on your own accord. Sometimes things don't work out as we'd like them to....

In the end you'll get a refund if that is what you desire.....

Click the link if you want more of my thoughts on the subject....

PS- some of the passion in this post is spilling over from the link and for that I do apologize in advance.....
