I would be wiling to bet it was the financial trouble that Airstream was having. When Thor bought it in 80-81 it was on the verge of closing. I have been told that is one of the reasons you see so few 1980 models. Also remember this was the Beatrice timeframe and I am sure they thought one plant made better fiscal sense. Too bad there is no definitive answer.

Have reservation!

We are planning on leaving the Denver WBCCI Unit Rally from Mountaindale Campground, Colorado Springs, on Sept. 28 (Sunday) to arrive in Jackson Center on the 30th for registration. Will be there (if all goes well) for the full 5 day event. If anyone from the area wants to join us in an informal caravan let me know, and I will post an itinerary.

Great

That's 6 forum members so far. That's probably more than have ever been simultaneously logged on to the "official" Airstreamer forum.

That was kinda tongue in cheek. I didn't actually look at the count on their page. I just noticed that every time I go to that forum, I am either alone or with perhaps one other member logged on.

I know. I was just kind of playing around.

See you at the homecoming.

John Irwin,
While at the homecoming you should take a day and visit the aircraft museum at Wright Patterson in celebration of 100 years of flight. Every time we have taken our trailer to Jackson Center for work we spend the day there as it is only about 50 miles south. This has to be one of the best aircraft museums in the world. We are going down to Dayton and spend 2 or 3 days in September at the museum. Will miss homecoming as we will be in New Mexico for the baloon fiesta.
