After the Rally I would love to join you to caravan to Glacier NP!

July, 2 does not work for me.

Oh, I think we'll be staying on a little longer in Bozeman, Bill. Maybe leave July 4? But could be talked into other ideas. You can scout the route for us! I'm thinking about camping in Hungry Horse.

Dallas,

Will you be at the KOA before the VAC parade? If so, we can talk then. We have not worked on the route yet.

Bill

That was definitely a tongue in cheek statement. I love Yellowstone

For many years, I towed my 26' keel sailboat from Loveland, CO to Yellowstone Lake for a week to 10 days. We lived on the boat and sailed the over 100 square miles of water, including the three lower arms where power boats are banned. We would spend about 5 days on the far reaches of the lake. In the no-motor zones, every other cast would bring in a 2' Yellowstone trout.

My present wife has never seen Yellowstone, so this is my chance to give her the grand tour.

And, by the way, I'm waiting for the UPS truck right this moment.

Glacier National Park

It's an amazingly beautiful part of the country. We love the area and spent much of our holidays in our younger years in the park, both the Canadian side and US. Have not been there for years but if it is as laid back as it was you will likely find it very refreshing after spending time at Bozeman.

I would be interested in joining in as well -- that is if you aren't too worried about my propensity to travel with Murphy's Law as a constant commpanion!

Two years ago when the International Rally was in Salem, OR, I spent some time in the park going both directions. On the way out to Oregon, Highway to the Sun was closed -- it had only been open about 24 hours when I arrived there on July 6th (? -- may have been 7th) on my way back to Illinois. I waited around so that I could take the Red Bus Tour of Glacier National Park -- riding in those antique open-air busses is an experience I will never forget -- and I am ready to make another expedition.

Sounds AWESOME, Kevin! We'd be happy to head up there with you.

I can't think of a better way to enjoy the "Going-to- the-Sun-Road" than in a '75 Caddy Eldo Convertible!

We'rem looking forward to putting some faces to the names at Bozeman. Checking in on the 26th. We will be working our way down from Glacier NP to Bozeman. Right now we are in Birch Bay, WA and it's rainey with the temperature in the low 50's. Haven't seen any real sunshine in 25 days.

It's supposed to warm up Saturday and stay that way for a while. I live 15 minutes north of the border. This is the coldest June on record for this area since 1954. It heats up fast though. July through Sept are forecast as hot and dry.

Sightings and activities at the Rally

I have begun to see a few WBCCI folks pulling in. I spoke with some doing preliminary work. Talk about dedication, on the 6th of June!

However it is cold and rainy. I went 50 miles west this weekend to Beartrap (Red Mountain) campground and was one of three campers braving the rain, sleet, and wind.

Wind and rain are supposed to stop in July according to our weather persons, but not yet. Quackgrass is taking over the garden! And it often
snows at the end of June!

Be sure and check out the Festival of the Fourth Fireworks show! It is put on by the local Gallatin Empire Lions Club and is free. Its at the fairgrounds. I'm the guy with the flashlight and bicycle wandering around
as some kind of security, handing out glow sticks to kids.

Be sure and give us a campground report, Joe. The "Mountain Meadow Campgound" was looking like a good one.

We stayed at Mountain Meadow when visiting GP, and recommend it. The name is a little deceptive, we thought, as many of the campsites were nestled on the hills above "the meadow." This makes for privacy and views other than the side of the neighboring trailer. Our 31' trailer was given a drive through, but the entrance and exits were short and pitched. I thought we'd scrape going out, but we did not. The hosts were friendly, and the location near the entrance to the park was ideal. Enjoy your stay! ~G
