6th Annual Halloween Campout October 26th-28th

Boo!
We are stirring the"pot" a bit this year for our annual Halloween Campout! Change is GOOD! Come join us, Friday, October 26th thru Sunday, October 28th for Heart of Texas Camping Unit's annual campout in Jacksboro at the Fort Richardson State Park and Historic Site. We will circle our "scary" trailers in the equestrian area across the road from the historic area, under an "almost" full moon! We dress our scary trailers up as only HOTC can! We will cook up some scary concoctions for Potlucks and Happy Hours! Don't forget our famous pet costume contest! We have seen some real thrillers!!! Last but not least, the Pumpkin carving contest! I think it will be Howling Good Time! Cost will be considered "primitive" and is $5.00 a night. Enough to howl about! You can go to Texas State Parks and reserve a "primitive site", or park says just come on in to register, and they will have us blocked off!

Friday - Arrive and set-up
Typical Happy Hour and Potluck Dinner
Sit under the stars and moon and listen to the coyotes, bats, and goblins, as only you can in Ft. Richardson!

Saturday - typical "bring some breakfast stuff", and we will fix together! Always works!
Pumpkin carving, animal costume preparation.
Visit the park! Walk or bike ride the 10 mile Lost Creek Trailway!
Visit downtown Jacksboro! It is a great city! Antiques, Herd's, restaurants, Kodak moments!
5:00 - 7:00 - Pet Parade and Pumpkin Contest! Prizes!
Spooky Happy Hour
"Trunk or Treating" with park and Jacksboro visitors! Bring plenty of candy!
"Ghost Walk" at dark!

Sunday - Recover from a scary evening!
Visit and enjoy the morning with fellow Airstreamers!

Bring Easy-up, pop-up awning if you have one. There will be a covered pavilion down the street we can use if it is raining. Propane fire-rings are a must! If you have a gas grill or cooking set-up, please bring. Creativity is a must! You may want to dress up as well for some of our "visitors"! Generators are welcome, but can only be used from 8:00am till 10:00pm. If you want hookups, the "East Camp Loop" will be the closest. Anyone with a volleyball? I think there is a net close-by...witches versus warlocks?

Hope to see you all there!

We are planning on it! Only a couple of hours from Here!!! So nice to have this close to us. Usually things are so far away from here....Very excited!!!!! The bike trails are awesome! Did a triathlon there this summer....Can't wait!!!
Where will most people be camping? Is the east loop as close as those without hook ups? I'm good with primitive....

Hi Joni78,
That's awesome! Looking forward to this event so much. We will have a wagon wheel on the grassy equestrian area. Some will be in the East loop. It is all very close.

We call ourselves Streamers or Airstreamers. You will meet lots of the most wonderful people you have ever met! You won't find a better bunch of fun loving, genuinely awesome people.

I called Ft Richardson State Park before I booked the reservation. The lady said not to mention that you had a trailer if you are booking a primitive site. It would just confuse them. Also, there are only 20 primitive sites, so if they are full, not to worry since we are on the equestrian field they can accommodate more

Hittin' the road

We're loading up and will be hitting the road around lunch time. If anyone is looking for something to do this weekend, this will be a fun time! The weather looks great with perfect camping weather in the 60s! See you there
