Weather is looking fantastic next weekend.........
Its been like Christmas at my house this week - been keeping the UPS guy pretty busy will all the stuff for the rally - received to stuff from VTS, Airparts (metal) and Marti's awnings - some nice awings that will be for sale as well as a nice handout for care and feeding of awnings
And we have lots more coming - did we mention the vendors? We have lots of venders that really support this rally and did we mention the raffle? We sell raffle tickets to help support the rally and we have some really great stuff that will be given away, so buy LOTS of raffle tickets! Oh did we mention the swap meet? We always have some really great items for sale - have even had trailers for sale. We are pretty full, but we always seem to fit everyone in who wants to attend, so if you want to attend this great event, please let me know

We are flying out tomorrow morning to do some sightseeing in NM before coming to the rally! Really looking forward to it! One of the places we planned on visiting was Rockhound State Park. But due to the reviews on this forum and others we have decided to skip it. We are very amateur rock hunters, basically I just like shiny things !
Does anyone have another place for rocks/fossils/gems in the area that they recommend? Anyone been to Blanchard Claims? The Blanchard Rock Shop
We are traveling quite a bit, Carlsbad Caverns, Chaco, White Sands, Roswell....
Very excited to meet you all, come say hi, we'll be staying in the parks Silver Streak Trailer

Resto Rally Potluck?
Ken,
Will there be a potluck again? Need to know what to bring. And I'm getting excited about being there and meeting some folks I've PMed with lately! We'll be somewhat restricted by our 4mo old puppy--we lost our big Dobie on St Paddy's Day--but we're SO looking forward to seeing everyone and to the learning experience again!
Let me know about the potluck!

Can you believe its Vintage Restoration Rally week? !
The organizing committee is working very hard to make this the best educational Airstream experience. We have assembled a great team of professional presenters that will show you how to tackle any project you have in mind for your trailer. This rally is not a mere show and tell. It is a hands on demonstration of all aspects of trailer restoration. Come prepared to learn a lot!
We again will have the big tent and a 1956 Flying Cloud inside for various demos – we will be doing some skin replacement, fantastic fan installs and polishing on it.
I've attached the schedule – Thursday is the day that most will be arriving – I understand some are coming as early as Wed to check out the area. We will have great appetizers Thurs evening starting around 5:00 so everyone can get to know each other.
Early Friday morning we get down to the serious business of Airstream restoration skills – we have planed to cover just about everything you would encounter in restoring your coach. Friday evening will be our famous retro pot luck – bring your favorite vintage dish. We will start Friday around 7:45 am and finish around 9:00 pm – so you should sleep well. Saturday we have another full schedule from about 8:45 till 9:00 pm planned with a catered dinner on Saturday Evening so you don’t have to worry about cooking.
Sundays schedule is much lighter. We have a couple of presentations planned for the morning, then the afternoon is free to have our professional staff take a look at your trailer projects for general advice and council.
In addition to the presentations, at the end of each day we plan to have an open forum in which you are invited to bring any questions you have to our panel of expert presenters. This is a great opportunity to ask questions you may not have thought of during presentations or things we just didn’t get around to covering.
So you can see we have a very full weekend and I hope you are looking forward to it as much as the organizing committee is.
Couple of items we need if you should have them…. We can use some extension cords and air hoses

dilema
I was getting ready for the trip last week and my cyclo broke down with things not done. A quick ship to the Cyclo folks with a promise to get it back ASAP so I could finish up before I had to go. Well, that did not work. I just got the Cyclo back and planned to go to the barn and finish polishing. A quick check of the weather changed that plan.....
"Partly cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm and a chance of rain. High of 106F with a heat index of 129F. Winds from the ENE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain"
....and a forecast of 60% thunderstorms between here and ABQ for the next three days. I have talked myself out of that polishing idea. Maybe finish at ABQ?

You ALL have to look at "My Earthship".....it is fantastic.
We have to talk....I built my timberframe home from recycled materials and items I collected for thirty or more years. I almost went the same way as you...but chickened out.

I bet you want me to practice on your Cloud.... I bet we could have it all done by Monday AM. Tom Sawyer had it right. By the way are you, FC7039, going this year?

My friend, Sally, flew in last night from LA, we hope to hit the road by noon, plan to camp at Balmorhea State Park tonight.
Can't wait for the fun to begin! Even though a few of my "rally preparations" (new battery box, new gaucho slipcovers, etc.) didn't get done... this trailer will clearly always be a work in progress.

The great thing about the Restoration Rally is that rigs show up in all stages of completion. Some are aluminum tents (right, Kip!), others are well on their way to becoming fabulous restorations (could this be Ken?) Anything and everything fits in perfectly here in Albuquerque! What you will walk away with is an abundance of information and a network of people ready to assist in any way possible.
Pack it up, throw in the dog, and safe travels to Enchanted Trails!

"Well on the way" may be an over statement at this point :-) Its more or less "as found", "torn apart"
However, I'm taking it out there this morning and it will for sure lower Enchanted Trails to a new level of below low - LOL!
Anyone who wants to join the fun - we'll try to get them in!

Shari! I've missed it. What two new projects? The 56 Flying Cloud here at the Resto Rally already has a new panel going in.
