Hi, Ken,
Very excited to be coming to a Restoration Rally, finally! Had to figure out most of what I needed to know in 2006-2007 on my own, but am still an avid learner. Working on windows, solar & polishing are what remain to do, so those are the areas I'll be particularly interested in.
Good friend of mine from college is dying to come with me, so I'm sending my husband to the beach with his brother & sister that week. He HAS finally gotten interested in camping in our Airstream (living in it for a year on a jobsite in West Texas had sort of soured him), but actually working on it, not so much.
"The check is in the mail!"

Sounds great - tell your husband to be prepared when he gets back home because his wife will be in "airstream knowledge overload" - :-) You are not going to believe all that you will learn..........

I am getting ready this year
Ken...I am gathering all my spare parts, old and new, for the sale portion of the rally. Getting ideas on where to concentrate my "studies" this year. I got to thinking that there may be some things we could help with....ideas from the field. How about an awning seminar. .....replace fabric, tension setting, maintenance and setting it up alone type info. An in general AC replacement course of guidance. An early morning "learn to tow, back up and set up your Airstream. The Hitch. Safety on the road. These are all things I heard folks mention last year...any other ideas...I know there is experience to share.

We already have the hitching up on the menu - that is new this year - we have done A/C before - perhaps need to do again - awning - not so sure that can be VERY dangerous, I know someone who almost lost his hand messing with an awning...

As I am going to be giving the metal working presentation, is there anything specific that the attendees would like to see. I need to prepare for this early as I am not getting back from a research trip until the 5th of June and it will be a real short turn to get to Albuquerque on the 7th.

Looking forward to seeing you at the rally. Could you do a piece on rivet nuts? I see them mentioned on the forums but have no experience with them.

ok Kip, lets see... Basic riveting, metal repair, forming and patching, sealing, and maybe flush rivets and edge bead forming. Did I forget anything important? We've only got 4 days to become experts.
Turn and burn Kip!
see you at the rally

DENT REMOVAL!
How about a specific project with plans like an interior wheel well, or a refrigerator chimney vent (to replace the ugly fiberglass ones)?
I don't ask for much do I?

Like this?
This post has most of the info on how to do it. I'll bring the Airstream with this in it.

Very nice Zep! I currently reading your whole post, it's inspiring! . Yes, that's what I was thinking, although mine would be longer due to a shorter fridge.
Aerowood,
How about a tutorial on how to use my new (reserved) roller!
Another idea, fabricating new window frames? My old ones are so covered in paint and silicone, seems it would be easier to bend new ones? I realize they are pretty basic but thought I'd throw it out there.

We're looking forward to another fun-filled rally where we always leave with more information than we can get our heads around...well, for me, anyway! But the rally is so inspiring that you want to begin work on your vintage...immediately!
We're traveling by way of Alumapalooza in Jackson Center, Ohio...anyone else making the trek from JC to ABQ?

Original disk brakes
Anyone interested in the disks and calipers from the original (1977 in this case) brake system? All four are removed and all parts (disks/hubs, pads, calipers, bearings) are available. They all appear serviceable, but no guarantee that the pistons are free.
