Thumbs up 2014 Vintage Airstream Club - Rocky Mountain Rally

The 2014 Rocky Mountain Vintage Airstream Club Rally plans are underway. Come join us as we celebrate another Rocky Mountain Rally at the Rockin' Wally-B Ranch!

We will circle the wagons the nights of July 24-27 in Gunnison, Colorado. We plan to do it the way Wally did – dry camping, no hook-ups & rustic. We will park without assignments, just park as you arrive; expect a limit of 80 spaces.

Registration is OPEN!

Additional Rally details are published on the rally web site (RMVAC.org ). Hope to see you there!

Shari

Yea, the best Vintage old stile no nasty rules rally is back. My check will be in the mail on Monday.

*sings* "She had fun, fun, fun 'til daddy took the Airstream away"

(Then she got into the Donarita tent and machine).

I'm not sure about the presence of two forum moderators in attendance though. We may have to behave. Azflycaster, I know another moderator who is coming too!

Micro-Brew and Craft Beer Tasting

One of the new events at this year's RMVAC Rally is a "swap meet" tasting of craft and mirco-brew beers during two Happy Hours. Colorado is among the top craft brewing states in the nation and we want to celebrate our second-fastest growing industry.

On Thursday, we ask those people interested in tasting different craft beers to bring a six pack or two of their favorite one or two local beers from their home city, metro area or state to sip, share or swap with others. Bring a few small glasses with you to Happy Hour for sampling all the wares.

On Saturday, we ask that people bring a favorite or newly discovered Colorado craft beer, as we want to honor our glorious and frothy state. On your way to the Rally, you might stop at Elevations Brewery in Salida or at Eddyline Brewery in Buena Vista to lightly sample their offerings. And we're sure there is some delightful Colorado beer in your favorite local liquor store, so you can also buy 'n bring some with you.

To get things started and your vats churning, here is a link to a Denver Post article on Colorado winners at the World Beer Cup that is just wrapping up in Denver:

Small Colorado breweries come up big at World Beer Cup 2014 in Denver

I have sipped the Gold winner in the Chocolate category, Shake Chocolate Porter from the Boulder Beer Co., and it is a genuine In A Godiva Da Vida!

So start sampling some suds and begin thinking about the craft beers you are gonna brung with ya to our Rally. More will be posted as this topic ferments.

Fred,

We are coming in from Grand Junction and Montrose. Any suggestions in that area for a pickup?

Hi Bill:

There are 3 craft breweries on or near your route. From a web site blurb:

Two are in Grand Junction, the Rockslide on Main Street and Kannah Creek across from the Colorado Mesa University campus. Both serve brewpub/bar fare and are packed most nights of the week. There’s something for everyone at both Rockslide and Kannah Creek. You’ll find solid Pale Ales, Ambers, Lagers, and Stouts. But keep a look out for specialty beers on tap like the Irish Red at Rockslide.

Rockslide Restaurant and Brewery

Kannah Creek Brewing Company – Grand Junction Colorado

It might be a pain to stop by the breweries themselves while towing a 29' Liner, so please check out the streets and their location on Google Maps. You also might be able to purchase some of their beer at a Grand Junction liquor store that has a big parking lot.

There is one choice in Montrose:

Horsefly Brewing Company, 846 E Main St, Montrose CO.

About Us - Horsefly Brewing Company

This is right on your way if you don't take the N. San Juan Ave. cut-off for Route 50 through downtown Montrose.

I've never been to any of these breweries but they sure looking interesting!

Rocky Mountain Vintage Rally-Gunnison, Colorado

Just found out during planning committee meeting this afternoon, registration for our RMVAC rally at the Gunnison County Fairgrounds, in Gunnison Colorado is filling up
Anyone still thinking about participating this year had better decide soon, otherwise you might end up on the "waiting list".
The Rockin' Wally-B Ranch is the place to register
