Wendy - we don't do the Trailer Trash Queen anymore - we will have about 100 trailers and almost a couple hundred folks - so its too large a group to try to do that.

We do have a reigning Trailer Trash Queen - one of these years she may even make an appearance.

Generators

I was just reading the RV Rules & Regulations on the Fiesta website.

It says unattached generators must be 2ft above the ground.
Ill be bringing a Honda 2000.

How have others dealt with this in previous years?

When set up in the rv area, will our tow vehicles always stay in front of our trailers, parked alongside or even possible to be parked behind?

Alongside or behind would be great as I could just leave the generator in the bed of the truck while running.

Just thought Id better ask now before showing up, trying to figure out how to deal with this.
Thanks

We had our generator on the ground every year and it has never been an issue. The only theory I have heard about this is that one RV area is on top of a land fill and there are concerns about methane gas seeping to the surface. This is not the case in the area where we park.

The alignment of the trailers is up to the fiesta parkers when we arrive. I have parked in front some years and behind other years. There should be enough room to move your TV for charging. I always carry a 25 foot RV extension cord with me if you need to borrow it. I doubt you will need it.

Methane? That's reassuring.

Yes, that's over where they put all the white-sided rigs, as I understand it.

Generators can be on the ground where we are - Richard is correct - the RV area across the street is on a landfill and so there are concerns that things can (and have) go boom - we are far away from that area and is just one of the reasons we are in the premium area. In addtion, that parking is in a dust bowl - yuk - this is one time you get what you pay for.

You can park your vehicle in front or back of your trailer - depending on where you park your trailer in the space - though for view's sake - back of trailer is better. It would be tight to park on the side of your rig.

Not only do the balloons go up, but so do the white boxes. Quite a spectacle! I can't wait.

I just leave my generator on the tailgate while it is charging. When I'm done, it goes inside the truck bed, you know, "Out of sight, out of mind."

I have seen others who leave them on the ground outside throughout the rally. I have not heard of any problems.

In 2008 we had a lot of rain one night. This is the result in that "other" area. We had no problems at our location...

We are hoping to survive with only battery power, one in the AS and a fully charged spare. We'll see how we do - we won't invest in a generator as most of our normal trips will be with some type of hookup - this will be the longest we've ever boondocked though. Not so much worried about battery juice as I am being cold and not running the furnace, especially with wet hair after a super-quick shower ... Wendy
ps .. bummer about the Trailer Trash Queen - but thanks for all the great info on this thread, I think we'll be better prepared than without it.

You should not need your furnace, but if you need to charge there are plenty of folks you can borrow a generator from. I have a Honda EU1000 that we bring.

The Balloon Fiesta is a little over 2 months away and I thought I would post a few pictures from the past 4 years. The pictures are some of my favorites, but do not come close to the thrill of being there.
