We don't use our generator except for the microwave a few minutes at a time and for our espresso maker. Hopefully those of us who tow with trucks will be able to park near enough to our trailers to leave the generator in the bed of the truck.
How about it Ken?

There will be space to park in front of our trailers. They line us up to provide room for both in each parking space. We usually sit our generator on the ground atop of some levelling blocks layed out into a pad to keep it out of the dirt. We have a Honda 2000. A friend of ours useds a folding work table purchased at Home Depot as a stand for her Honda 3000 and it seems to work well for her. It is the same height as the back of her Tahoe and it just slides out of the truck onto the stand, she is able to do this by herself.

I am not going to stress too much over the generator thing - there will be hundreds if not thousands or so rv's and I've never seen the fire department come around - this is NM afterall - if you have one of those plastic egg crates from Wallmart - thats great - if not will find you something if we see a fire truck.
I'm not overly concerned about this one....
And yes there is room - probably front and back of your trailer to park...

2' Generator
1. What specific fire code rule or regulation are they citing?
2. How does one get the generator in a class A MOHO up to 2' off of the ground? Put the rig up on jack stands?
By having the generator elevated on some sort of contraption, they are creating more of a hazard than having the generator on the ground where it cannot fall or tip.

Thank you. I'll just keep it in the rear of the bed and use it as we do when on the road and pulled into a rest stop or a Wal-Mart. Safer from theft there as well.

Howard - I don't know - motorhomes already have their generators off the ground - - - Like I said - I'm not too worried about the whole thing - just passing along info that was passed on to me. It makes no sense to me either

Yes I did get them - and I"m very good about responding to all e-mails and PM's - however on yours I figured I did not need to because I had sent the info you were requesting in the PM about the schedule - I've sent you an e-mail this morning, I have a different e-mail than what you sent me.....

Tow Vehicle Parking & Bagged Ice?
With this being our first time to attend this Rally, we have a couple of questions:
1. Tow Vehicle Parking
Keeping the generator in the bed of our truck will solve the 2 feet off of the ground requirement ... that is ... as long as we can park our truck at the back of our Airstream as opposed to parking the truck at the front of the Airstream. Parking at the back will ensure the power cord from the Airstream will reach the truck bed. Are there guidelines that will prohibit us from parking the truck at the back of the Airstream? Or are we required to park in front of the Airstream?
2. Bagged Ice
Does anyone recall if there are any vendors at the Rally site selling bagged ice? It would be nice not to have to leave the site in order to purchase bagged ice each day.

Our vehicle was parked behind the Airstream. We had the best site in the whole place with absolutely nothing between us and the entry gate. We rolled out of bed in the morning, drank coffee and watched the balloons do their thing all from in front of our Airstream. I don't remember about bagged ice, but you do not want to be on the road when everyone is trying to get to or from the balloon grounds.

You can park either front or back of trailer depending on the length of your trailer and where you park it...
There is no ice available on the fiesta grounds....

Getting in and out of the parking area is very easy from late morning to early evening. A mid day ice run would take around 20 minutes.

notes and such...
Two things from a painfully missing, previous attendee...
GENERATOR...You would be well-advised to check with Jan before you fire yours up... ...it could cost you the price of another generator!!!
ICE...it was helpful to have someone who was willing to take orders for ice to make a group run...with the size of the group this year, KEN: is it conceivable to have an ice truck make a daily or every-other-day run? Or is someone generous going to be towing their rig with a semi trailer ...?
Until I'm replaced, I will always be TTQ...when and if that happens, I will always be TTQ1...remember to wear oversized cups and be shamelessly shameless...promises of bribes may help, and enjoyment is paramount...we will miss you guys...m&t

ScrapIrony-2, could you please elaborate on your warning?

I assume your other "notes" are in-side jokes or comments...

Jan is our on site generator cop with very sensitive ears - and yes if she is displeased, you will end up owning a brand new Honda - - - - - true story.
So we don't mess with Jan...

Just checked the weather - if the forcast holds, this will be the best balloon fiesta in years! 80's in the day - 50's at night....

Hi, I guess I missed that one, but I take it to mean that if you show up with a contractor's generator, that Jan will escort you to the on site Honda generator display / sales booth.
