I wondered what was going on!

I'm staying at Elmendorf for a couple days and saw all those A/Ss as I went past on I-37. So......I went looking on the I'net. Yep, sure enough........it's a rally.

Hava good time, y'all.

What an amazing time!

I just got home from the rally. It was an early wake up at 3:00 AM this morning, but I am glad to be at home with my family. This is the largest rally I have attended, and there was a good mix of Vintage and newer units. We even had an 80's Silver Streak join the party. The amount of work put into the rally by all involved (some who couldn't attend) was a huge undertaking. I didn't get to attend any seminars, but from what I heard from other attendees, they were excellent. The vintage open house was a good time, and 87MH's bribery of the visitors won him the people's choice award. For those who didn't know, 87MH had a local bartending institute send two young bartenders, beer, and a pina colada machine to his site to pass out free drinks. The creole and bbq meals were very good, and I never left the hall hungry. Some of the best time I had was getting to sit and talk with Dale (Pee-Wee) Schwamborn's discussions of Wally, the WBCCI Origins, and the overseas trips he was a part of. He may refer to himself as a, "Living Fossil," but I prefer, "living legend".

I want to Thank GStephens and Whitsend for asking me attend the rally, and offer leak testing. A huge thanks to the people who had me test their trailers. Thanks to CJ of Oklahoma for transporting my leak testing equipment to Branson for me since the Airlines damaged it when I flew down. Lastly, I want to thank Pat McDowell for loaning me a Hehr standard Back Channel that I needed for my 53 Flying Cloud that nobody else seems to be able to locate.

It was great to meet all the AIRforum folks that were down from the rally. I would estimate that half of the attendees were not forum members, but we all had a wonderful time.

Great Job Texas Highland Lakes Unit!!!!!

Steve

We are home safe and sound. We left this morning about 5:30am and got home at 2:30pm. I have never seen so many airstreams in one place. Love the vintages and new ones. James and I had a great time and already planning to put this rally on our 2010 calendar. Congratulations to all who won special awards, and congratulations to all who did a lot of work to get your rigs ready for the rally. We enjoyed meeting everyone. Gayland and Jim S. if it wasn’t for you guys we probably wouldn’t have came and we would have missed out on a great time. Everyone is invited to our 2009 Branson Rally, first weekend in April, check the forum for details. James and I hope everyone made it home ok. P.S. the weather was great, little windy but we are use to that in Oklahoma.

To a bunch of great Texans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know there were a few in leadership roles and seminar presenters that I had opportunity to personally thank for the great rally. For all other's who did so much to make this a great rally, and all rally attendee's, please also accept my personal thanks. I apologize to those we may have disturbed when leaving at 5:30 this morning, but had to get an early start on the first 10-hour leg of our 16-hour journey home. Hope to see you all again "down the road".

time to rest up

I put as many pictures as I could on the Rally section. Hope you all enjoy them. After having the last few days to relax at the Rally I am home...back to the hectic life.....see photo. I had to leave a "quiet" park with bumper to bumper campers...all getting away from it all....and come back here to the normal day to day.
P.S. I'd really like to strangle the 0500 Harley commuter at the Park. Won't miss him.

CJ & James - I think we all just had a ball, a unique rally to be sure

I find it hard to choose what I enjoyed the most. The trailers were so beautiful. The many seminars so fun & informative, so well presented. But maybe the best of all was the people - old friends renewing it all, and making new friends. Steve "Soldiermedic" was fun to meet & put a face to. My thanks to everyone who worked so hard on their trailers, those who attended from so very near & far, and the good Highland Lakes folks who pulled it all together. For those who missed out - let me tell you that Dale / Pee Wee is a hoot!! Tons of great memories to share and just an overall genuinely nice man - but maybe not as nice as his wife Susan.

My thanks to everyone!!

Jim

Great rally! Thanks to those who worked hard to make the event what it was.
We enjoyed meeting all of the friendly Airstreamers.
Going home we did not have the Irish blessing "May the wind be always at your back." We had a headwind with reported 44 MPH gusts all the way. Made me glad we have an Airstream!

Man, I was busy doing "other" things, and miserably failed to get any pics of the Sovereign (interior AND exterior) during the open house - if anyone has any high resolution (or other) pictures of my unit I sure would appreciate it if you would forward them to me.

Please use the address below for the attachments, PM me for a valid address where I can receive attachments, or post them on your Photo Gallery here on the forums (but let me know that they have been uploaded) -

Address - use some common sense in interpreting the correct format:

dwatermann at comcast dot net

Thanks

Yes, many thanks to Gayland, Jim, John, and the many many others who put on such a great event. I was only able to stop by on Saturday and just for the day, but it was great finally meeting many of you who I've chatted with online for about a year now.

I now have even more inspiration to complete my trailer so I can be an active participant, rather than just an observer, next time.

Thanks again!

I don't know what happened. I placed them in the Rally section and they went to outer space. If you click on my "images" under my avitar the pictures will show. I screwed up again.

Batten down the hatches for tonight. Big Hail forcasted for our area.

This was our first WBCCI event ever (we joined in November) and it was GREAT. Thanks to all the folks that put this together. If other rallies are half as well done as this one, we will be having a wonderful time. Thanks to everybody who worked so hard to put this one together.
