We'll have to see how things hold up! I just unwinterized the MG last week and immediately found a coolant leak. Fixed that and did a short trip. All went well, so Monday is the first longer trip: Taos for lunch to meet a client from Albuquerque. If that trip goes ok, then I'll clear it for an even longer trip.

Hope the weather holds! I'm not too concerned about wind -- that's more of a constant than not in the spring -- but the MG is allergic to precipitation, especially since I made the decision to drive the car topless as much as possible.

It would be great if you could make the trip down to the rally. The weather looks like it will be perfect for driving with the top down. Looking forward to seeing you again.

Cry me a river redux - truck version

Hi All,

I need some good KARMA! After Zep's enormous work on my Bambi's door and side panel, I went home and three days later this is what happened.

On Thursday last the area had a lovely freeze. I have to drive to work leaving at 6:00 am heading to Durango. Yes, you guessed it. Ice spin out. Slow motion is an interesting thing. Too bad it doesn't help. By the time I came to a halt I was resting my rear end (truck, that is) on the front bumper of an F250. I still don't know if the insurance plans on totaling my Sportrac or not.

The reason I am telling you all this is that even if they don't total it there is no way I'll have it back in time to get to the rally. I've tried to find a truck to borrow. (no luck) A rental is cost prohibitive.

So, Ken, I'm not sure if I will make it after all. I'll keep you posted and should know more by the end of Monday.

Hoping to see you at the rally,

KARMA, Karma and karma coming your way. The good thing is, it sounds as though you're OK. The truck will work itself out hopefully in time to get to the rally. Be so good to see you. How are you getting around, or are you? Any pix of the SportTrac?

No Pix, it went straight to the lot. Of course I could go by and take a couple of snaps. The entire bed is lifted sideways on the frame but the frame does not seem to be bent per the estimate guy. But it is all computerized now. Plug in the damages out comes the decision. He did say he will try to find a used bed. If he does then they probably won't total it.

I've got a nice rental car through my insurance. AARP/Hartford. They've been great so far.

Thanks for the Karma! :-)

Wow, that is really crummy news! If we still had Forums Karma, I'd give a LOT of it!

Really looking forward to this rally and seeing young old friends again plus making new ones. Learning a few new things will be a bonus.

Survival

Made it through an exhausting week at work. Pay the price going on vacation, but oh do my wife and I look forward to this trip. I wish we were coming in with our airstream instead of the aluminum flying tube, but look forward to seeing in person the incredible work so many of you have done on your vintage trailers. My wife is excited as I am, which really makes it special. My thanks in advance for all of you who have done so much work in organizing this rally. I feel guilty for just receiving and not getting so would like to offer a presentation on hole repair. I have some pictures below on using this new rivetless repair technique. The repair is time consuming but the effort really shows well. One great advantage as the trailer corrodes the color blends in even better.

Half way there!

Spent the weekend in the Mtns. of Tenn. on the Tellico River, camping and fishing and testing out the unit. Started out on Mon. and should be there Wed. or Thurs. Started out early just in case. Attached is a photo of this past weekend. See you ABQ.
