I think there are folks who get together even further out west than Grants - aren't there? If I remember right two years ago there were several who met up in Ca and traveled across together

That might be pretty good. We don't know if we want to hurry there and go slow coming back or the other way around. It is 400'ish to Kingman, AZ, then another 400'ish to Grants. We don't like to do 400 days but we can. Any of you other CA people, keep us in mind.
We have reservations at Grants so now I have to send it the form and deposit.
We are really looking forward to this new experience for us.

We had three Airstreams from CA meet up in Williams Wednesday evening at the Railside RV Ranch, http://www.railsidervranch.com/ . then we caught up with Airstreams from the Phoenix area at Flagstaff.
Gail and I might catch the Sierra Nevada Unit Unionville Rally September 24-27,
http://sierranevadaairstreams.org/snu/2009/events/09sp-unionville.html , the weekend before, and then meet the CA Airstreams at Williams again. I'll make contact with the Railside for September 30th. Airstreamers from CA intending to meet in Williams can contact me for details.

What do you want to be in life, a spectator or a participant?
The dates are to leave the 6th but the event continues until the 11th. Are we required to leave then? What is the opinion about continuing for the next 5 days?

Getting out is not a problem. The area is well laid out with plenty of room to leave. Last year most of the Brazillion dollar Motor Homes that surrounded us were gone on Monday. If they can get out, you can.
My wife and I are planning on going out for the 2010 fiesta. I think we need the practice before taking a 3600 mile round trip cruise. What are some things that we should consider essential for once we get there? I was certainly surprised that there isn't any electricity. So I guess the key word is propane, propane and more propane.
The VIP West section that we stay in has no services, but water and pump out are available for a fee. A full water tank and empty holding tanks when you arrive are a must. A generator is a good idea as long as it is a quiet one. There is a great story that goes with that last statement, but I am reluctant to tell it. I'm sure that someone else will chime in.
Since you can easily drive in and out of the Fiesta, you can pickup any food or other items you need anytime.
Richard; Where in the Albuquerque area is the parking/balloon launch site? I'm not sure if we will come from the north (National Antelope Rally) or straight from Las Vegas from the west. I know you rendezvous the night prior and go in as a caravan. Looing forward to the rally.
Charlie - The fiesta is several miles north of I-40 just west of I-25. The group from the west typically over nights in Grants and then we all gather Friday morning at the Camping World on I-40 which is about 5 miles West of I-25. The entire group caravans into the Fiesta from there. It is quite the site when we are all headed down the Interstate in a single line.
Roger - staying longer should not be a problem - we had some folks who stayed longer last year - they may move you as they have groups coming in the following weekend - the only problem may be the following weekend if they are booked - if you want to stay through the following weekend, I suggest you make reservations now before they fill up.
Nick - just go for it - you will have a blast and we are there to help you in any way we can... !
Charlie - the balloon site is on the north side of town - any gathering that is done the night before is informal and not an official part of the rally - which is great but is also to say you don't need to hook up with us until Friday at a site to be determined (Most likely Camping World). We then parade on to the fiesta field as we all need to arrive at Fiesta park at the same time so the balloon folks can park us...
All this information/details will be spelled out in little newsletters from time to time leading up to the event - we will make sure everyone is well informed and knows exactly what to do
This is a precision event - run by experts (hee hee) - don't try this at home You may even be able to play Airstream Rodeo with us again this year!!
As Richard says, you can come and go as you please. We will always have 1 or 2 leave a day early - you still have to pay for 4 days though due to thats how our reservations are committed to the balloon folks and we don't want to get into figuring out who is what with reservations - not to mention if you leave early you miss the best part of the balloon fiesta (at least thats been the case the last two years)
Oh yeah the generator thing - we have a resident generator cop - AND if you are caught with a nosiy generator, you will be REQUIRED to purchase a brand new Honda generator (they sell them at that rally - we know that...)
Now this person will probably remain nameless - all I can see is Richard knows her..(oops - didn't mean to say that out loud ) very well.
Now to some of us a nosiy generator is ok - after all this is New Mexico, land of the free where anything goes - but hey, its a great way to have that new Honda you've been eyeing..
