Thanks for tipping a few for us. Maybe that's why I was a little tipsy last night.
Post some pix so we can keep in on the action.

Yes Brad, a 4CU smile that you'd be willing to share with the rest of us would be great. I'm hoping that was your intent at least.
And thanks to the onsite crew for the headache this morning. And I can't figure out why it is I feel like I've eaten several bowls of hot chili but............ I doubt it had anything to do with the chili we had in sympathy at home last night given it was virtually spiceless and definitely meatless (should that be meet-less?).
I suspect there will be complaints from other balloon'ers about the 4CU group releasing gas well before the balloons are supposed to go up. I was just wondering what the fire hazzard is like there.

Great balloon launch this morning. It's a little windy this afternoon. It looks like the long distance race has been pushed back a day or so. We had a great chili cook off last night, I came in second! The moosetags won with a moose droppings chili. They were all great. Next event is the TTQ and then the pot luck tonight. This is a great event.
BTW, The FCU is buying a hot air balloon, one bottle at a time...

Gosh...wish we had been able to do this trip! ...but that 4-letter word ("work") got in the way this time... Looks and sounds like you're having a blast! Keep the notes and pics coming for those of us who couldn't make it! (I like chile, too, dang it!)

Opening day of FCU Balloon Fiesta Rally in ABQ
Opening day mass ascension balloon photos.
Click on pictures for a larger view.
The cathedral was the tallest balloon at over 100'.
It looks like the Astronaut balloon is chatting with the Killer Bees.
The last photo might be Mrs. Fuzz giving a cease and desist order to an unidentified FCU member.

Sights & sounds of the ABQ Balloon Fiesta
Short of the sights & sounds of the ABQ Balloon Fiesta. The crowd, the roar of the propane burners and the whistles of the launch control "zebras".

GREAT pictures. Thanks so much for posting them. As we sit in rainy high winds Langley, BC, Canada right now and look at you folks in T-shirts and partying down this certainly gives us hope that there is life after this
Keep the pictures and commentary coming.

OK, so why no disclosure on who took top honors in the TTQ beauty pageant? It was difficult to judge from the photo who should prevail. Was there a talent show and swimsuit competition? Inquiring minds want to know.

And the winner is....
This was a very tough competition, so tough that the judges let the crowd vote on the winner. I now present the offical 4CU TTQ. Raise your head up high Mike, you are the winner...

It is very early morning in Albuquerque and it has been raining all night long, very hard at times. It is looking not so good for a lift off of balloons this morning . Things can change in a hurry, so we will keep our fingers crossed ans see what happens. We have a pancake breakfast planned for later this morning. With a little help from the weather folks, we might be able to pull this off...

Great photos everyone; my wife and I want to put this rally on our "must do" list for 2009. We are affiliate members of the NM4CU and have not met any of the folks as of yet.

Mike,
Congratulations are in order. You look the part so well. I trust the coronation ceremonies were adequate. I see someone was flying your castle around in some of the earlier pictures. Is this an annual happening or is this a more or less lifetime honor?
On to other things. How did the pancake breakfast go folks? I have never had a chili pancake. Not sure I ever will, but I guess when in Albuquerque do as they do? Or not. Did the weather clear up enough for the balloons to get out? Is today the final day for the event? Are any of you then caravaning to somewhere else?
Barry
