Agave Tequila Azul

I'm not admitting to nothing however no where have I seen reference to the "end" of happy hour. It would be a very sad thing indeed if, at the end of a hour, you had to become unhappy. I suspect the high cost of blue agave will limit the "Margarita per hour" intake this year. Perhaps the 4CU will sponsor a rally in Tequila Mexico where we could enjoy watching the cultivation, harvest, fermentation, and distillation of the Agave plant. I understand there is no additional charge for sleeping on the floors of the various tasting rooms but there is a small charge for shooting out the lights.

Somehow I doubt the price of blue agave will limit intake this year - a rally in Tequila Mexico sounds like a perfect fit for the FCU though...

Minor quibbles with rules:
#1 Chili or chile in the name. This is New Mexico and it is fall so beware of the green chile stew!
#2. Non-corrosive to aluminum or stainless steel.
#3 No argument.
Also need chips!
See y'all soon.

I'm in!
Since we will be getting to the Fiesta around 2PM and then need to setup, that leaves us very little time to prepare the dish. I would suggest making the chili before hand and heating it up when we are all ready.

2 hours to set up...??? Surely you jest!...it'll take us 2 hours just to unpack the set-ups...herdin' flamingos ain't easy, ya know , and they gotta be brined before they're added to the chili, or the pink will not meld with the green

Howard, How kind of you to offer to bring chips.
So you think the official time of taste should be closer to 6pm?

Happy hour is at 4PM, why not shoot for a 5PM cut off on the contest.
Ken has been practicing the exit from I-40 to I-25, we whould have no problems getting to the fiesta...

Trailer trash queen
Where are the trailer trash queen contestants?
I was looking to get some bribe money from them to buy gas to get to the rally and back.

The checkbook is in the mail...General Delivery to where ever you were, with a return to Quartzsite, forwarded to Silverton, and General Delivery to where ever you were gonna be...may be a tad late to ABQ, but I can always stay there long enough to pick it up and send it on to where ever you are gonna be next...HONEST ...
As for contestants, I thought the contest was a done deal...after all, I HAVE THE TIARA, the bouquet of Tootsie Roll Pops, and the silver thingie to hold in the other hand(the latter two are disposable in proximity to the MargiBall)...I thought I had explained this several times, previously, but the stress of potential competition may have addled my memory...one that may not be there...uhm...when ever...I've put in the order for the 'rebate' tent, have ordered the kegs, cases of wine, gallons of blue agave, dancing girls and boys, the no-lose penny slots, the catered steak and tofu dinner, the massage tents, the aluminum polishing team, the championship BLOODY MARY mixing team, and a box of custom toothpicks...and all this on only 12 hours of sleep a day...and I'm willing to sacrifice the chile/chili/chilly/chilie title just to be humble
Lordy!!! What happened to the days when being Queen just involved acting immature and winning a washer/dryer...???...uhm...Ken...? IS there a washer/dryer...?

Queen for a Day!
What a program. Several contestants each with a story more depressing then the next. The winner gets a bunch of roses and a major appliance. The losers get a carton of Old Gold cigarettes (sponsor).

Southern California
Hi, so far due to personal circumstances we plan to leave home on October 1st 2008 around 10:00 AM. We have made reservations to stay at the Grants NM. KOA for the night of October 2nd 2008. And finally meet with everyone at Camping World around noon October 3rd 2008. We may have to spend the first night in a rest stop near Williams?
What are your plans so far, those of you also coming from Southern California area? Convoy/carravan? I think it is about 800 miles from Lakewood, Ca. to Albuequerque; I figuer that's about eight hours per day averageing 50 MPH while trying to maintain 60-65 MPH. [stopping for food and fuel]

Last year we joined the caravan in Flagstaff and motored as a group (more or less) to Grants. We made a few stops along the way make the drive a bit more fun. It would be great to do this again this year.
I'll start working on a tentative trip plan and post it later today. If we know where people will be joining the caravan we can pick locations for them to join up. Last year I collected cell phone numbers and sent the list out.
More to follow...

Maybe you could make it to Winslow. There's a nice state park just east outside of town called Homolovi Ruins. Nice campground, often underutilized, at least at this time of the year.

We stopped at Homolovi on the way to the Labor Day Campground at Williams a couple of weeks ago. It is a nice campground. Everything is paved and sites are fairly level. Campground is about 1 mile north of I-40. The exit is about 1 mile East of the Flying J Truckstop in Winslow.
Have a good trip out.

We'll be looping in from the north and expect to be in the Taos / Santa Fe area about a week before the rally. Any suggestions as to where to stay? We've seen very little of NM and were thinking that would be a good area to base ourselves.
