Hi, after the fantastic Balloon Fiesta we went to Santa Fe for a night and toured Taos, NM while there. Next we stayed at Williams KOA; Nice place. And finally we stayed in Victorville before having to come home. So now I have a few pictures for you.
Hi, we also want to thank Ken for letting us join this wonderful group of Airstreamers at the Balloon Fiesta. We enjoyed camping with everyone in this group. Note: We took over 300 pictures on this trip mostly at the Balloon Fiesta; If you want to see more, I suggest you sign up for next year's event. Even though my invention sprayed gas in my face [I did get it repaired] and my rear air vent blew off of my trailer while parked, at dinner time. But thanks to Bill for letting me borrow his expandable ladder so I could make an emergency repair just before an all night rain. We still had the time of our life.

We finally made it home last night 10/15 after a side trip thru Okla to visit relatives. Thanks to the 4 CU for a great time at the balloon fiesta. It was a treat to met all of you. I especially enjoyed Mike as TTQ. My daughter Sandy is gung ho to come again as is my friend Luvenia (second runner up TTQ.) we all had a great time. My motor home preformed flawlessy. I do have some maintance to take care of. The screws on the door hinge worked loose in OKC so I will have to fix that. I ducktaped it so as not to loose the screws and it stayed together till we made it home. I also must have a small leak in my water pipes to find a the pump would come on for a short burst during the night. Those were minor and will take care of them soon.
Nana's Lace Cookies - As much a candy as a cookie- very addictive
(from Martha Stewart) modified for altitude-
preheat oven 325 deg. parchement or silpat or lightly greased foil pan
1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup sugar (add 1 tbsp if 5000 ft or more)
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 tbsp grated orange zest
1/2 cup toasted, then chopped finely, pecans
2 tbsp heavy cream (add extra tbsp if 5000 ft altitude or more)
6 tbsp butter melted
2 tbsp corn syrup
MIX IN ORDER SHOWN drop by tsp or more further apart than you think
they spread a lot. Batter should be gloppy.
8 to 12 min depending on what it feels like- they will pouf up like regular cookies then poof down--when they are full of holes and browned a bit on the edge they are done. Remove by flexing sheet they are on before completely cool.
Thank you, Ken, for hosting such a primo rally! Sorry for the delay...we took the long way home through the White Mountains of AZ. Very peaceful out there and the bonus, the aspens were turning yellow.
The Balloon Rally was to die for but when the beefy SOB's rolled out and we had the front row seats and then the landing right in our very own backyard, literally, well, it just doesn't get any better. That made up for --and more-- the down day of rain! I'd say a once in a lifetime experience but I don't want to!
Thanks again, Ken, for putting this all together!
Reg
OK, I'll try again...first post landed me at a rally site somewhere in New England...
If I step up to the plate, and open a thread on the TTQ contest(and don't get my rivets stripped), will the photographers out there be willing to submit pics of the festivities? At least we'll know where the line is on sense of humor...michaela
