Is there any interest in having an informal gathering about a week before the start of the Balloon Fiesta outside of Chama NM? The plan would be to be there about 9/26 -27 and leave about 9/30 or 10/1 to head South. While we were there it would be a good time to take the steam train from Chama to the high country where the Fall colors should be good. A good camping location would be Heron Lake State Park (Blanco Loop as first choce or Willow Creek loop) - $14/night with water and electric. The park is about 15 miles South of Chama. The state park reservation system will be shut down so it is grab a site when you get there.

Due to a lack of response, I am going to call the Heron Lake SP side trip canceled.
Wish I could go,I lived in South Valley Alb.thru the 70`s,had a place on Heron lake up at Chama,been stuck in Fl. for the last 28 years .Oh well,And for you vets the bigest
American Legion is on Central N.E.,Few years ago met pilot of P.O.W. baloon,he promised us a ride but the wind picked up to no fly for the 2 days we had left there.

I've done a quick look thru 17 pages of post and this post from Ken J indicates that there is still room somewhere? It's an event we've wanted to attend for some time and now the travel window is open and we'd go if there some guarantee of space, somewhere with other A/S'ers
And if things are too full, then we'll just have to plan for another year and go elsewhere this October.

Just saw this thread and am also wondering if there is still space left to join? We currently have reservations at the Balloon Fiesta RV facility from Oct. 7th through 12th. We would gladly change and am able to commit to join this rally with fellow Airstreams! Please advise - fingers crossed

Ok folks - I can't promise I can do this last minute in 2009 - the balloon folks are fabulous to work with - soooo I've reserved several more spaces for about 1 week - they are holding our final billing for us - so PLEASE if you want to join us please let me know ASAP - I'm out of town tomorrow - Sunday, so you have about that much time to think about it when I check my mail on Monday.... I've heard that there are several out there that want to join us, so here is you opportunity to have the blast of your life...
Great news Ken. We were talking around the campfire (propane) about the event at the Williams 4CU rally and everyone agreed that this is something that should be on your Bucket List.

Caryl, that's awful! We were really looking forward to having another pair of Evanstonians there with us. Funny, it seems we can't meet up where we live 5 minutes apart, but we almost made it work 1000 miles away!
I know you'll be there in spirit though, and I'm sure you won't have trouble finding somebody to fill your spot.
