Talk has already begun about happenings, planning, etc. for the upcoming 2007 International Rally. The rally will be held on the East coast in 2007 in Perry, GA. Please share any info you have about this event.
Some things I've heard second-hand on the forum are:
1) There will be 30 amp service available for anyone willing to pay for it
2) Sewer hookups for the first 600 sign-ups
3) Perry, GA is HOT in the summer so planning to bring a generator might not be a bad idea
4) Gnats and mosquitoes are bad that time of year so bring your bug juice
Please feel free to confirm (or deny) these things if you are in the know!
When I signed up for the 2007 rally I was taking to one of the very nice and helpful women who volunteered to work registration and she told me that 300+ pre-registrations had already been done the day before! It was pretty busy when I signed up too, and I got there just when they opened at 12:00 noon on Sunday. I was surprised to hear this as I found the International Rally to be pretty dull. But, then the folks who have already signed up may not have the same opinion as me.
I've got some ideas for improvements for the 2007 International Rally - simple and low to no cost that I will review with my Unit and then forward off to International for consideration.

Looking for a WBCCI Unit filled with fun loving folks to camp and travel with in the New England area? Well, you've just found it:
Just printed the form off the internet. Perry is within a reasonable travel radius for us (Salem was not) and we can visit my wife's good friend who lives near Atlanta as a bonus.
I hear that the facilities at Perry are excellent. Our only previous International was Springfield, MO and having to bus or drive clear downtown for everything sure put a damper on things at that rally.

I noticed a small change to the sign-up coupon -- no more 100% refunds if requested prior to January 1. Just an observation that you will be charged an administrative fee for all cancellations prior to June 1, 2007.
I was curious about what it would cost to attend the 2007 International Rally if driving from New England (note, mileage is based on leaving from north of Boston) and here is what I came up with:
Gas roundtrip @ $3/gal; figuring 10 mi/gal $714
Tolls roundtrip $100
Rally fee $235
30-amp $135
Total (not including food) $1,184

Did I miss anything?
I think we'll be lucky if gas is only $3.00 a gallon.
Are you thinking of driving right through? It's about 1200 miles for us so we are planning to stop for at least one night on the way down and back.

We will probably do at least one stop each way too. We have done the trip from MA to FL in 26 hours (with two stops for naps). Lots of driving but with our opposite sleep schedules, it works.
We are waiting until later this year to finalize our plans as that is when the rally/caravan schedules for 2007 are published. Our goal is to hook up with a vintage caravan as we will be bringing our Bambi II. We also want to be part of the annual vintage parade where the vintage trailers all meet up ahead of time and queue up to parade into the rally together.
I know it's still early, but I thought I would ask if anyone knows of or is planning a vintage caravan to International in 2007? I'm wondering if the Washington DC unit is planning anything?
Does anyone know for certain answers to these questions?
Will we have sewer/grey tank dumping service more tha ONCE during the Interan'l; Rally
NO dumping of black/grey tanks during the Vintage Open house? That was in very poor taste at Salem.
Or are there enough sites for everyone wanting to pay for it, have a sewer hook up?

Yukionna,
Not sure at this point. I plan to bring this topic up at our "OBX" rally at the end of this month. I'm sure we can put something togther, even if its staying in "Wal-Mart" parking lots along the way. I think from the Washington D.C. area, it's about 11-12 hours depending on which way you go. Being the WDCU has many vintage units, some being pulled by vintage tow, it could/would take longer. I could see a two/three day trip down and thats moving along.
