Does anyone have a handheld GPS? If so would they be interested in doing some Geocaching on the canal? I just found 2 we could look for on our bike trip.

What is "geocaching"? (I'm being lazy and not looking it up myself on google.)

It's a treasure hunt. The "treasures" range from easy to find (just a map and a few hints, there is probably one close to your house) to more treacherous terrane, GPS coordinates, well hidden caches, ect.
We stumbled on a treasure here at the Thompson Dam...it was a tupperware container hidden under some rocks and in it it had a booklet for whoever made it's discovery...they put their personal stamp in it and where they were from and a little message to it's next seeker. Thought it was pretty cool. I'd love to have a GPS...better yet learn how to use one.

OMG! A treasure hunt! What fun! I checked within a 10 mile radius of my house and there are not one, or two geocaches but 90 of them! I will have to try it when I have some free time (probably not before Scusset, tho).
I think Pam's nephew did one of these hunts in the NH mtns when we went camping with them a few years back at the Saco River CG. The details are fuzzy and I don't believe he used a GPS, but I do recall he was successful in finding the treasure.
Richard and I have found some without the GPS system. When we went to our Spring business meeting in Glen, NH we tryed to find one in Jackson at the Hooneymoon bridge and couldn't find it. The harder more brain teasing one's you really need a GPS. It is fun...I have 2 scoped out for the Scusset Beach Rally so bring your Airstream Business Cards so we can attach them to the little Airstream I have to put in the Cache!
This is the perfect activity for camping folks!!!! I'm going to take the kids on a hunt at the GREAT PUMPKIN HARVEST MOON YOUTH/RALLY in October that Jamie and I are hosting Columbus Day weekend.

I'm going to Portland Maine for a conference and hoped to drop in and visit your rally Saturday afternoon after the conference breaks up. It turns out I've been asked to be a presenter at the awards luncheon on Saturday, so unless I can come to the hotel parking lot already hooked up and get out before 3pm, there's little chance that I can get to Scusset on Saturday.
I know everyone will break out early Sunday to get home, so I may miss a flying visit to your rally. Either way, Party On Dudes!
Actually people do tend to hang around some on Sunday in the nearby parking lots. Of course if it's 90 degrees that may change.
Last year the Rangers at the park let us stay in the Safari field all day on Sunday as it was not booked by another group. Hope they let us stay again this year!

Hello Folks,
Leon and I will be collecting your donations for the Region One Rally raffle during the Scusset Beach Rally as Titu & Gail cannot be in attendance. I promise not to keep the good stuff for myself.....

Last year several of us hung around and had dinner together. A few stayed over to leave early on Monday.
I can't wait to get there. I think that Earl and I along with M&M will bring our quikshades so that there will be a place to hang out for happy hours to escape the sun (notice I did not say that four letter word r__n.)

Thanks Michelle, if the items become too cumbersome, let us know and we'll drive over with the van to pick them up! Unable to attend as I have to work all weekend.

The QuikShade is loaded and ready to go. We'll be bringing the gas firepit as well so the flamingos can warm their tail feathers. Wouldn't want any of them getting the bird flu.

Weather forecast is high low 70's and low's low 60 with scatter Thunder Storms. Wouldn't miss the AC. Who's getting there first and where are we parking? I'll need space on both sides of "The Bat Cave Express" for awnings so will likly pick the end spot or corner out of the wind. We will be there 3ish.
