Unfortunately my yellow polka dot bikini clashes with my flip flops so I won't be able to wear it. We are doing our beach blanket up with a flip flop theme, it's all about the footwear. Do you think Elaine will mind her stuffed quahog served on a flip flop??? Are we still planning on having this down on the beach? I have portable music, I know I can find Wipeout if I look hard enough. Balrgn has it I bet, too bad they're not coming. I still want to be the beatnick that crashes the party but maybe we should give that idea to the Uberlanders.

Let's see I'll have to get a copy of Jack Kerouak and iron my hair, dress in black and snap my fingers alot. I think we can do that.

Gidget and the Beach Boys

Okay, bring your CD player M&M, the Beach Boy's cd's just arrived yesterday. I am bringing them along. I am waiting for the Gidget movies to show up though!

Are we doing "retro" appetizers?

I've been racking my brain about retro appetizers and I can only come up with Tang and Chex Mix. I'm gonna need some help with this one.

Vintage Cook Book

Hi,

I have an original cookbook by Wally Byam's sister. I will bring it to the Monadnock Meet Rally...we can take a look. I have a couple others too.

Actually, in talking with my Mom, she remembers lots of deviled eggs, olives, chex mix, mini-hot dogs, cheese in a can, rye bread rounds, ham salads, cheese and crackers....

Hmmm....we'll have to think on this one.

Most of the "retro" appetizers are retro for a reason. With the exception of deviled eggs, I think I will pass on the olives, chex mix, mini-hot dogs, cheese in a can, rye bread rounds, and ham salads.

There must be a way to modernize the "retro" so it is healthy and tasty at the same time! I'll have to start experimenting!

I agree . Maybe we should go with a beach blanket theme instead and let people use their imagination. Everything from surf and turf to surfboards and beachballs. Just thinking about these things I can already invision a couple of things I could create. What do you think, should we let our imaginations take over and create beach blanket appetizers?

Hehehe...I love your choice of emoticon above. It was exactly what I was thinking when I wrote my response above!

"Beach blanket" theme works for me. Can you point me in the right direction by giving me some "hints" or ideas of what might work with that theme?

Sure, My beach blanket is a flip flop theme so I'm going to create something with a flip flop. Pam is doing a surfboard theme so she could make a surfboard to serve her appetizer on or create little surfboards as her appetizer (this is only an example, I don't know what Pam will do). I'll give you more ideas at Monadnock if you need or if you pm me your blanket idea.
