They actually snap
onto the window frames....when the window is open, the awnings are up - when they are closed, the awnings lay flat against the trailer. The window itself is what supports the awnings which are just fabric. Check out
this post for some detail shots of them.

No, I have the older (pre '66) Hehr frames. You have to have a frame to attach the snaps to it, or modify the attachment method with elastic or velcro or something else if you don't have the frames.

Yes, but you would have to modify the design slightly to accomodate the rounded corners of the post '68 windows.
