Looks like y'all are having a good time. I would have liked to been in on the polishing demo and the chili smörgåsbord.

It seems like there are a few "residents" there tryin to put the whammy on your fun. If I had kids I would have left as well. No need to walk on eggshells while you are camping.

Interesting that the 13 yr old had to stick up for her mom. Makes ya wonder about the real story.

If it were me I would let the management know about the encounters. I would remind them that they might not get the guaranteed revenue from 60 reserved sites of an Airstream rally and the subsequent reservations that come from word of mouth from such a rally.

It sure does look wonderful with all the mountains. Hopefully we will be getting to Colorado for vacation in a month or so. Today Rich's blog has pictures of the polishing seminar and Fred's presentation on the 60s Airstreams. Tomorrow is open house and I'm anxious to see pictures of the different units and owners. Wouldn't it be nice if we couldn't go to the mountain we could get the mountain to come to us. I hear tell it's been tried.

Zep what a beautiful sky looking forward to more.

[I have been on the waiting list and nobody ever got back with me ]

no kidding, bummer 'ma...

i'll be there next week. come on out and we can rally!

doubt we will ever know 'who said what to whom' but as a parent, if my 13 y.o. interrupted an adult conversation, even to defend me.....i'd have asked her to 'hold your tongue and go outside'...then offered an apology to the other adult....later of course i would smuther her in hugs and kisses, chocolate and ipod upload time....

rv park hosts have to be really really pushed to evict a paying guest... they understand the down side or the bad pr....
wonder who it was...i can guess

would not surprise me to read richL has moved on....according to his own words...he prefers boondocking, blm parks and even driveways to a resort type rv park. also he is full timing and being there is work related. also he must feel conflicted with a rally on the east coast about to start he sponsors and that is close to home and friends...
he considered skipping it but now may want to get there...lets watch...

this rv park in creede is pretty nice. the people who run it are very friendly. the vac picked it for a reason..
5 stars was there lead in....leaders have been there before

also understand the rocky mountain part of colorado...
one looks at a map and sees a big terrian,
but really it is mostly peaks and mountainsides....and parks.
with little pockets of commerce...mostly tourism. one road in/out. short seasons.. and so on.

it is like a lot of little exclusive islands...

most of these areas are like visiting the cali coast, beverly hills, malibu, big sir, or martha's vineyard, the hamptons, mackinaw island or the florida keys.....

expensive, exclusive, crowded into a small prime space with other beautiful people....

these locations aren't usually child havens...it is not a yogi bear rv park.

many of these distinations
have been 'aspenized' or have the 'sundance syndrome'

and there is often the clash of cultures...the poorer local working/service folks, the very well off permanent tourist/new locals, and the visiting vacationers....this time in a silver wagon train....

sure hope they have plenty of food...

cheers

Airstream Life

Rich Luhr and crew were well represented. We couldn't get everyone together at one time for the mug shot, but here's four of them. At least two others were somewhere in the vicinity...

Polishing Demo

Yea! Herb Spies. A great presentation. He brought all the nifty tools and made everything look so simple, but he kept muttering something about weeks and hundreds of hours...

It was a nice, cool morning and he had everyone's rapt attention, even Rich Luhr, here getting a shot for the magazine.

Herb had all the tools and polishes set out and ready; he even saved a small section on the Pensacola raffle trailer for the purposes of demonstration.

Even though this is the "final polish," Herb actually went through the grades of polish backwards (finest first on an already nicely polished section) so that he wouldn't have to change the buffing wheel between demonstrations. One of the nifty "tools" he had was a mircrofiber cloth that he put over the terry cloth on the cyclo--it very quickly took the last traces of black off the skin. Herb says he's never had to resort to flour or other techniques to get those final black patches/streaks off.

There was a handout, but I don't think there were quite enough to go around. Perhaps he has it on disk and could email it to those who are interested. Herb?

After Herb's excellent presentation, I'm convinced that if there had been a Nuvite sales table nearby, it would have been sold out!

Herb, thanks very much!

I traveled to Creede with great expectations.
Every expectation was met or exceeded, and I look forward to next year.

great shots, Ken. Wish I could have been there for the open house. Here's George and Susan Davis' interior. It just made you smile to see it.

Gosh, I didn't know that...

As I looked at the Vintage coaches, I found out that my "knowledge" was pretty darn limited. For example, the Caravel was brought back in '80 as a "Caravelle". In the year of manufacture of the Carvelle on the left, the original colors could be selected from Blue, Organge, Brown, and Green (I think that was the list)--this one is Orange. And it's only 7' wide! Look at all the windows.

Very nice Zep. Thanks for posting. I recognize a few of those trailers. Everyone with a smile, just what I like to see.
