Thumbs up CBR Shameless self promotion

Abe and Melissa are sure to have a great time at the Cherry Blossom Rally. The farm is a wonderful site and a fun time is always had by all. If you are in the area there will be open house on TWO days, Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon. This will give folks who want to go downtown for the Grand Parade on Saturday an opportunity to see how others have done some of the things you are considering for your vintage rig, or just see some of the ideas in the newer ones. For guests, Saturday open house is usually easier.

CBR 1999 was our first rally ever, and I personally haven't missed one yet. Pam was home for one, and will be home for this one, as well.

How do you decide on the date for this rally? Is it set around the Cherry Blossom Festival? I'd like to plan ahead for next year and I'm wondering what dates I should look for.

Hi dougjamie,

Leon and I are planning on attending this rally next year. Could not do this year as our Airstream is at GSM having her exterior restored. I believe there could be a number of NEU members interested. Maybe we should plan an express caravan...

This would be sooo great! I was thinking that even if the whole family can't go (because of school, work, etc.), I could take the trailer down solo for the (relatively) short trip. Caravanning would be even better!! Mom's weekend out!

You're having the exterior restored? SO Cool! Can't wait to see the finished product.

more on 2007 dates..

For those who have to think waaaay ahead, here's some information for the 2007 Cherry Blossom Festival in DC:

"The 2007 Festival will be March 31 - April 15, 2007, with the Parade on Saturday, April 14.
2007 will celebrate the 95th anniversary of "The Gift of Trees" and be a memorable year with many special events planned."

CBR Dates

To expand on what Paul said, CBR is anchored around the Saturday of the Cherry Blossom Festival Grand Parade. If next years parade is on the 14th then the rally would be 12-15th April (Thursday to Sunday). Good Lord willing and the Creek don't rise, I'll be there the Sunday before to start setting things up. Jim and Clayton Rogers usually have no problem with folks rolling in a couple of days early and hanging out until the following Monday or Tuesday. It definitely is a laid back affair.

Hope to see you all there,
Matt

I don't have a yahoo id. Is the sign-up sheet located anywhere else where I don't need to create another sign-in to access?

Rally fees

Price has historically been pretty much break even. Continental breakfast each day, rental tent for gathering (with heat when needed), evening meals, one catered one pot luck, it just kind of adds up. I always felt that a buck and a quarter for two folks for four (or more) days was rather reasonable...

The CBR sounds like a good time. Only about an hour and a half drive, and we really love the DC area. I am assuming this is boondocking. Can someone who has been to this rally give me some insight on what to bring?

Latest on the CBR rally is there is still room for more trailers. We have electric and water available. Bring cords and hoses and you will be able to hook up. We have port-a-potties if you don't want to use your trailer bathroom. We put up a 30 x 60 tent for meetings and meals and good times. There will be vintage open house for all the old trailers. Dust off those trailers and come on out! http://www.servintfree.net/wbcci-dc/....html#_April_6_–

More have signed up but there is room for you. We get all kinds at CBR. Last year we had a Squarestream, a funeral hearse, a police comand center, Vintage Thunder, and other Argosys and a new off the line CCD, and all sorts of vintage trailers. We like everyone to come out old and new. Some people have never seen a new Airstream up close. Check out our site and get those trailers rolling. Doug

We just signed up for CBR. Looking forward to meeting you and other forum members. We're greenhorns. It's only our second rally, so we would appreciate any tips.
