Hope you all have a wonderful time. Give me a couple of years and I'll make it out there. I towed 1640 miles to Florida and back this month. Still working on the backing up. I have the stabilizer bars down pat but it takes at least one other person to guide.

No activities are mandatory except just showing up.

There will be many excellent opportunities for lounge chair napping
or reading fluffy material while pretending not to nap.

And no backing up Danalee...it's a big open space.
Plus there is always plenty of help for any questions or any heavy lifting such as
"can I have a second helping of that" or "how many of these have I had?"

Hi Danalee - thanks for chiming in on the rally thread. I hope we get to meet you at next year's rally as it would an honor to be in the presence of the Silver Queen ....

Hey Myrna - looking forward to meeting you and no worries about Silver Sister Survivor participation - it's an optional activity .

I forgot to ask if doggies are allowed? I just got a 1 yr old Standard poodle last week. He is a love and enjoys riding. I got him from a Yuba City rescue so he had a 4 hr ride home and he was so good.

we love pups

Hi Myrna,

Congratulations on your new family member! At last year's rally, I adopted a dog from the local shelter near the town we were camping (I had some explaining to do when my husband heard about it ...but now he luuuuvs her just as much as I do.)

And YES, dogs are allowed and encouraged! I think there is a small fee tacked on to your camping fees for pets, but it's not much.

I know a few other ladies are bringing their mutts too. We'd love to meet your new dog! Post a picture!

Meredith, I will try to post a photo but don't always have much luck posting. I always seem to do the same thing but sometimes it works and than other times the photo seems to go where my lost socks go......

Thanks, Myrna. And if you ever find out where your lost socks have gone, will you let me know? I think a few of my kids' socks might be there too.

Aloha Silver Sisters!

Wow I go to Seattle for a week and all sorts of chatter happens...I like it!

I can tell you my fur babies have their bags packed and are ready for some lake action, home is just so boring in their opinion after years of Airstream livin'. Who would've thought a 10 1/2 year old Great Dane would want to keep on traveling, that's my girl.

Going to be a great time and I am just so excited! Still need to decide when I am taking off, which route I will take. Who all wants to get there early and what day?

Kit you've been awfully quiet, what can we do to entise you into coming out to the lake?

I am trying to get a comfirmed head count. A couple people mentioned Wednesday arrival, I am going to put that on my calender as my arrival date, more time there the better!

Thursday, please

Hi Julianne,

I'll be arriving Thursday afternoon. I want to be sure you are there before me so you can help me park my trailer...again.

[at least parking will be easier this year since there are no 'real' parking places, but knowing me I'll find a way to get into a jam anyway!]

I've been working on my trailer getting her ready for the rally. She's in fine shape now, just a few more little tweaks and we'll be ready to go!

Just 5 weeks to go!!!

Smile the Paso wine scoop

Hola Chicas,

So Dave, my Paso Robles cousin, sent me this information about the local wineries. Thought I would share....

-----------------------------------

Paso Robles area websites to check out:

www.faroutwineries.com is a small association of wineries out on the west side of Paso. See the map below. It don't think it includes ALL the tasting rooms out there.

www.pasowine.com is the official Paso Wine Country site. They have a great interactive map, but the roads can be hard to make out. I think you can also request printed maps from both (you'll probably want them).

The wineries Dave recommends from the pasowine map are Justin, Carmody McKnight, Thacher, and Pipestone. Also, on the Northeast corner of the intersection of Vineyard and 46 West is Linne Calodo (not on the map). (Dave says it's expensive, but "mind-blowingly good").

Justin Winery appears to be the closest to the lake/campground. Their website is very interesting and shows a neat topo map of the area. I've tasted there (a long time ago) and I remember it was very lovely. I noticed that they offer a winery tour for a small fee and it includes a tasting at the end. Might be fun!

For wine touring, Dave sent these van/bus tour company websites:

www.gogrape.com
www.winecountrycharters.com
www.thewinewrangler-tours.com
www.winetoursvip.com
www.breakaway-tours.com
www.hoponthewineline.com

Enjoy!

counting, counting, counting down

Oh, by the way, there's only 26 days, 2 hours, 22 minutes and 54 seconds until Thursday, March 11, 2010.

Just sayin'.
