Vino

Just an FYI I am headed to Paso Robles from the Rally. I have to attend the Red Zin Festival the following weekend.

Zinfandelicious (hey, an new word!)

Happy New Year, Julianne!

Ooh, Red Zin and Festival in the same sentence. Sounds tasty. And fun. Maybe a little dangerous too? Wish I could extend my stay but my kid-heavy husband will turn into a pumpkin if I'm not home by Sunday.

I'm your go-to girl for the Festival warm up activities but I'll have to settle for Red Zin Festival pictures and stories. Lots of stories.

xxoo,

Love your new Word!

Happy New Year too you Meredith!

I am going to Wine Country Rv Resort on Sunday after the rally and stay there for a week. That will give me lots of time to explore all 170 (yeah right) wineries and have some fun at the resort who will host a big party over the weekend. Luckily my 'Stream was small enough to get the very last spot for that weekend. A friend of mine from Washington Wine Country is thinking of flying in for the weekend! Oh yeah there may be trouble brewing two faux blondes and a whole lotta red, egads.

I am working on some seriously good food and drinks for our girls fiesta. Morning yoga and day tripping on the lake will be a must. Can't wait to be hangin' with you gals again.

How many boaters among us?

I'm bringing my tandem pedaling kayak. Kind of a Moby Dick, but it's hands-free and has cup holders! Scenic cruising at its best...
And this looks like such a lovely place to launch. Thanks Laurel!
By the way the birds are great there, so for you bird nerds--don't forget the binocs.

Yippee Janet! Put me down for a lake cruise.

now all we need is a cabana boy....

a.m. yoga...lake cruises with zinfandel...bird watching....it all sounds divine. I think I will bring my folding chaise lounge so I can take a nap by the lake after all these "exhausting" activities .

I was going to try and wrangle my husband's big hardwood canoe for the weekend but now I'm thinking a kayak is a better way to go. I like being down in the water instead of up on top of it. I wonder if a person can rent a kayak at the lake for the weekend? I think I'll check around....maybe I can find one with drink holders like Janet's .

Thumbs up Only 6 more weeks to go!

Helloooooooo Silver Sisters! Yooo hooo, anyone home? It's just 6 short weeks until our rally - time to start making some plans!

So I was thinking (and no, it didn't hurt, so don't even ask me that question), we need a couple of "Julies." Remember Julie from the Love Boat? The cruise director? Well, we need two of those to ensure the entertainment and comfort of our rally guests.

So I'm nominating Julianne and myself. (File your complaints in the complaint box if you have a problem with this)

In addition to the relaxation and enjoyment of socializing with our sisters, we thought it might be fun to plan a couple of activities that the ladies could look forward to at the rally. Here are some of our ideas:

1. White elephant exchange - (a new twist on our shop n' swap tradition.) Each lady would bring something that they no longer want/need, all wrapped and ready to give away. It could be trailer related, or not. A gag gift, or not. At an appointed place and time, we could pick numbers and chose a gift. Each gift is good for up to two steals. If it gets stolen twice, then it can't be stolen again.

2. Themed potluck - food is never in short supply at our rallies! We thought it might be fun to chose a potluck theme like Hawaiian luau, or vintage vittles, or home on the range to kick it up a notch. You likey?

3. Group Wine country tour - Book a private charter to take us wine tasting one day! A brief search located several charters ranging from $25.00pp on up.

4. Silver Survivor - A silver sister's version of the Survivor game, complete with teams, buffs, challenges, rewards, tribal counsel and a [million dollar?] prize! We have some great ideas to make this a super fun(ny) and easy version of classic Survivor...

So, what say ye all? Does this sound like fun, or too over the top? Let's hear your thoughts and ideas, ladies!

Aloha!

And just like on The Love Boat you will be greeted with a wonderful bevvie, huge smile and hugs upon your arrival!

6 weeks..how exciting! Before you know it we'll all be doing the happy at the lake dance.

Luau potluck sounds fabulous! Where ever did my coconut bra go? Hum.

I myself like all of those ideas from Meredith. Since I will be a Newbie at this first for me Silver Sisters event, I will leave the decision up to all of you. I am up for any and all. Is this a copout or what. Hee,Hee.

Hope you all have a wonderful time. Give me a couple of years and I'll make it out there. I towed 1640 miles to Florida and back this month. Still working on the backing up. I have the stabilizer bars down pat but it takes at least one other person to guide.

No activities are mandatory except just showing up.

There will be many excellent opportunities for lounge chair napping
or reading fluffy material while pretending not to nap.

And no backing up Danalee...it's a big open space.
Plus there is always plenty of help for any questions or any heavy lifting such as
"can I have a second helping of that" or "how many of these have I had?"

more silver sisters

Hi Danalee - thanks for chiming in on the rally thread. I hope we get to meet you at next year's rally as it would an honor to be in the presence of the Silver Queen ....

Hey Myrna - looking forward to meeting you and no worries about Silver Sister Survivor participation - it's an optional activity .

Love!!!

I forgot to ask if doggies are allowed? I just got a 1 yr old Standard poodle last week. He is a love and enjoys riding. I got him from a Yuba City rescue so he had a 4 hr ride home and he was so good.

we love pups

Hi Myrna,

Congratulations on your new family member! At last year's rally, I adopted a dog from the local shelter near the town we were camping (I had some explaining to do when my husband heard about it ...but now he luuuuvs her just as much as I do.)

And YES, dogs are allowed and encouraged! I think there is a small fee tacked on to your camping fees for pets, but it's not much.

I know a few other ladies are bringing their mutts too. We'd love to meet your new dog! Post a picture!

Meredith, I will try to post a photo but don't always have much luck posting. I always seem to do the same thing but sometimes it works and than other times the photo seems to go where my lost socks go......

Thanks, Myrna. And if you ever find out where your lost socks have gone, will you let me know? I think a few of my kids' socks might be there too.
