Hey Sistahs...
I will likely be arriving Thursday with a slight chance of a Wednesday escape.
I'll know for sure as we get closer to the date.

You really can't go wrong with any of the wineries (believe me, I've sampled many over the years )
There are literally hundreds of wineries within an hour or two's distance.
You can just show up and taste at most (many charge a little for the tasting and at some you keep the souvenir glass).

There are lots of great wineries on the west side of Hwy 101 off Hwy 46 (where the Lake is).
Justin is a good one.

If everyone wants to taste at a variety of places a van might be fun.
Otherwise if we have a designated driver or lightweight taster someone could drive.

I'll pick up some wine area guides for us and bring them along.

Looking forward to seeing you all...next month!

So I'm thinking of coming to the rally. Is there still gonna be room for us late sign ups?

Absolutely!

The more the merrier.

It's a huge area with plenty of room.

See you there...

Hi Ladies!
I'm starting to work out some of the logistics for the trip, like how to get there!! Does anyone have a recommendation on the best way to get to Lake San Antonio from Sacramento? Google Maps gave me two options: highway 80 to 680 to 101 - through the bay area; OR highway 5 south to 33 to 198 to 101 - passing through Coalinga. I'm not very familiar with the part of the state we're headed to, so I'd appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!
And I think the winery tours sound like a great idea! I'll be sitting out for Survivor as well. I'm looking forward to some serious lounging....

Hi Reshecca.
Either 101 or 5 will be fine. 5 is more of a truck route so you'll have lots of semis zooming by.
If you do take 5 south I would head east at Hwy 41 which will then intersect with 46 west to Paso Robles and the 101 freeway.

101 is a bit more scenic and you will take the Lake San Antonio turn off near Bradley
(north of Paso Robles) and head toward the North shore of the Lake.

I've driven (and trailered) both many times so it's really up to you.

Happy trails and safe travels!

Ooops.
I meant head WEST at Hwy 41 off Interstate 5
which then intersects with Hwy 46 west.

Rally activities

Lounging and more lounging, getting up for a cocktail now and again, some yummie munchies, a cruise around the lake, sounds like my kinda rally!

Another option for wine tasting is we all bring a bottle of grape that we love to share with the group. Just a thought.

I will most likely not want to venture far from my chair all weekend

I'm in Julianne.
The Bam Lounge will be well stocked with tasty libations for those who wish to stay lake side.
And those who want to venture out can certainly do that at any time.
We're a flexible group.

Am I correct in assuming that campfires are allowed and that we should all be packing some wood?

Yes, there are fire pits/rings so wood would be nice.
(Or barbeques, or fire dancers, or propane burners, or...)

Let me see if I can find some photos of the area.

In the first photo (late fall and farther back from the lake) you can see the cement fire ring, picnic table, and standing grill.
(And my Lab Holly...um...looking for her leash)

Second photo (springtime and closer to the lake) there are rock rings and burn barrels.

There are actual camp sites in the area but it would be nice to just drive down and
park right next to the water and circle our wagons.

As you can see, there is plenty of room and no problem "parking".
