Beautiful weekend

Ok Gary, let s see the pictures!
here are mine
The lake pictures are Wallowa Lake.
The rest are on the way to Imnaha and back. We were trying to get a view of Hells canyon. The road past Imnaha was closed.

Old thread, but those gorgeous photos have done the deed, and we plan to go to Wallowa in the fall. The road in from La Grande looks a little sketchy, but doable. How about coming out on 3 to the border of WA, which then becomes 129 on the way to Lewiston? (We'll be on our way to do the Selkirk Loop and any of the usual valuable forum input would be terrific...)
It looks a little scary on the maps, but is it actually a decent and towable road?
I'm not too fond of the white-knuckle surprises, and the "Mountain Directory West" makes it sound like meeting a log hauler coming the other way means one of you takes the short way down.
But it is the shortest route to Couer d'Alene and the beginning of the Loop, so if we get encouragement, we'll take it.
Many thanks.
