The famous Atlanta Motorspeedway is host to a huge event in April 2017.
The Motorama

is a gigantic car & motorcycle show with all sorts of related events.
I have been invited to put together a vintage camper "show" for this weekend.

It would mean camping in and around the Motorspeedway, maybe mostly in the
infield area. Showing the campers and whatever vintage cars/trucks you might bring to tow with. I am inviting Tin Can Tourists as well, and pretty much anyone with an Airstream, Spartan, Avion, whatever.

The details are still being worked out but there will be some hook ups available, and a cost which would be minimal.

I am interested in hearing from those who might consider this event. Dates are APRIL 22-23 weekend.

Lots of stuff going on there; Extreme motosports, celebration of 50th anniversary of the Camaro, and the 85th anniversary of the classic 32 Ford. Live music on 4 stages. Parts swap meet..food vendors, on and on...

We have 6 or so vintage Airstreams already planning on this.

As somebody that has spent most of my life on and around race tracks if my schedule allows it sign me up, I'll be at Cloudland next week.

we could not get a site for the TCT Southern rally there. Will be staying nearby at Raccoon Mountain and dropping over for the open house.

The cost for the Motorama camping would be $45 for the weekend including electricity.
Showers are available in the locker rooms. I am not sure about water hook ups yet.
Early arrival Friday is allowed ...

This sounds like an interesting event. We may be interesting in participating or just stopping by as part of a day trip.

Do you know what the hours will be for open house? All day might be too much for some people to have their trailers open to the public and would limit the time to peruse the other activities.

The criteria to be "vintage" is typically 25 years. Our '92 will meet that in 2017. Are you interested in something that new or are you looking for 50s & 60s only? 70s & 80s? Is there a cut-off year? To some people all Airstreams look the same until they get inside and realize the variety of the interior over the years.

we are open to 1989 and older. The open house will be likely in the afternoon, though I am not sure. It is listed on the Tin Can Tourists site now, but honestly we have not finalized the details. I am excited about the possibilities here.
The organizer of this event has a 64 Airstream and there are 6 among the sponsors. Now 7 with me...

Listed on Vintage Trailer Magazine events, Tin Can Tourists, Georgia Airstream campers Facebook page, and Southern Tin Can Tourists, though they have their Panama City Rally that same weekend..

Hope for a number of campers to show up..Got about 8 so far

We are hoping our 1964 Overlander rebuild will be finished and we will have Gracie home in time. We are 100 miles south of Atlanta and this sounds like a great event to introduce her around ��

We are thinking about coming. Home base for us is just north a bit of Edmonton Alberta Canada. Got some maintenance work to do on our 1983 Airstream 310 Motorhome. Would it qualify as "Vintage"?

The cost for the Motorama weekend will be $45 total for th campsite and electricity. Not sure if water is an option, but showers are available nearby.

Go to the website and register before MARCH 20 to get that rate. Register as a vintage camper and pay the 35$ reg fee. That and the $10 for electricity is the total. Do not register for the participant camping. This is for show car/motorcyles and vendors who camp. Their cost is more.
Please do not go to register just yet, we are working out the buttons to push ..LOL

Alan, I'd be interested in bringing the 67 Caravel towed by the 67 C-10 Chevy, can you get me a spot or tell me when and where to sign up?..Might bring the 67 Vespa
