Trout Lake Mini Rally July 16-17
Wanna Rally?
My trio is playing at the Trout Lake Arts Fest July 16 and 17 - near Mount Adams. Last year we went as well and camped at a local county park - it was lovely - a little rugged - sort of state parkish. We will camp here again this year. The festival is small and charming - at a historic B& B/farm.There are ice caves nearby you can tour and it's at the foot of mount adams.
Mt. Adams Guler Trout Lake County Park
Trout Lake, WA, 98650
509-773-3900
45 campsites - some with electric and water, group facilities, covered picnic gazebo, playground equipment, public restrooms, showers. Bring quarters for showers & firewood. No reservations except for the group facilities.
Here's a link to the festival http://www.troutlake.org/arts/
Anyone want to organize? We could bring the big cooking gear and maybe we could do something really simple like a "bring your own meat" (byom) barbeque.... and breakfast...or?

I've got it on the calendar. It sounds like fun, even if Airstreamers weren't coming!

How crowded........
is the Guler County Park CG around this time?? Where is it located, since I couldn't find a map where it is. I see they don't take reservations.......1st come 1st serve! I see there's another park....Elk Meadows RV Park, about 2.5 miles from town that does take reservations.
Rates sound reasonable.....any feedback would be appreciated.

If I get up there before then, I will take a look for you. We have a customer up there that we get freight from sometimes.

We camped at Guler last year - it was mostly empty. I called the Campground this AM -there is a gruop site - but it is already reserved for friday night. They are willing to hold several sites for us (a huge favor) however. If we want they will hold sites, 15, 18, 19 & 20. The sites are in the lower loop and 18, 19 and 20 are large enough for several trailers each. Also - they said if someone came early, they could hold sites. The sites have water and site 15 has elect. The bathroom is nearby with showers. The park has loads of shade and a pine needle floor
The fees have gone up this year, each site is $12.00 extra rigs $5.00 each. $2.00 discount for 55 and over.
Here is another option - it looks great - and they take reservations - but they are fully booked.. http://www.elkmeadowsrvpark.com/sitemap.html However - they recommended hollenbeck park - I can't find any info on it... anyone else?

Hi Janet, I was wondering about the Trout Lake Mini Rally ? Hadn't heard anything more on it. I am still planning on coming. I should have the Caravel in running condition by then. What would it take to get a bit more organized ? and when do we need to start thinking about something like that ? I like the byom idea. I could bring my gas bbq grill if needed. Correct me if I am wrong bit its fcfs ?

They are "unofficially holding sites 15, 18, 19 & 20. SOme of those sites will hold more than one rig. And yes - I guess it's fcfs. The forums "Parkgurl" is the park attendant there.
I'm not sure about organization.... Several folks have said they will be there - but if you want anything formal - someone else needs to make it happen. I'm going to be preoccupied with the festival. There is a chance we will not be there until Saturday. We could bring big cooking gear if needed - and of course, merlot.

It's on our schedule, so we're planning on being there......haven't been to that part of WA yet, so may come early or stay late (or both)

Janet, so what can we expect at the arts festival? How late does it run? Seems like after a day of food, music, and art, we might all just want to hang out around the campfire a bit. We might not need to worry about meals at all. What has your experience been?

I can bring my old floor to burn in the campfire ? If we don't do a community dinner we could do a breakfast on Sunday ? and just snack and shoot the breeze by the fire sat night. I'll be happy just to be out of town for a change, so its all good with me.

The schedule should be posted on their website in june. It is a very small festival with a couple of music stages, yuppie foods and art. last year there was an ale house that had micros brews on site. Attending this festival will not take up more than a couple of hours - tops - unless you want to sit in the shade, drink hand squeezed lemoade and listen to music.
We will most likely get there by noon on saturday and want to hang around the campground for the day. I'm happy to do a community dinner on saturday and sit around the fire. Maybe a BYOM brbeque or fahitas - something really simple. Same deal sunday am - I've got a griddle - maybe we could have a central coffee pot and a cook it yourself b-fast.... or???
There is cool stuff to do in that area - hiking, kayaking, rafting ice caves etc. Saturday night My trio needs to rehearse a little in the campground...
It should be laid back fun!

Sounds great! I can always handle another laid back weekend. I couldn't tell how busy the fair would keep us. A BYOMeat BBQ sounds like a good idea. Folks could pitch in a couple side dishes, and we'd all be set.
As for breakfast I'd be happy with cold cereal and good company. But if folks want to organize something, I'll be all for that too, and will be glad to pitch in wherever I can. I can try to remember our big coffee pot this time.

Gary & Janet,
Just passed through your stompin' grounds today from a trip to Glacier, Jasper, and Banff,.....gassed up in Pasco. Anxious to see you in Trout Lake if still on the docket!

I'm still up for Trout Lake, in fact it's our next planned outing. The trailer is in the driveway ready to go - yeah, it's a long wait!
Marc, did you get your schedule? Are you going to make it?
