I'TS TIME! May 30-June 2
With the New Year finally here, and it is time to start a new thread for the upcoming Central Texas Rally. Like previous years, we will again be staying at Pecan Park Riverside Campground. The park offers great shade from the pecan tree canopy, swimming, fishing, floating, kayaking, and an air conditioned meeting room (with kitchen) to host our meals.

All RV sites are full hookups, with a few sites having additional premiums based on extra amenities. The 2012 rates were $25 Sunday-Thursday and $28 Friday and Saturday. I was told that these rates should not change for this year, but normal non-group rates are $40 per night or higher.

The park is currently holding 20 spaces for this event (of which six are already taken). Once the 20 spaces fill, the rest are available on a first come first served basis.

This campground is a very popular destination, and does book up quite fast for the summer (especially the weekend that school lets out). Last year someone signed up last minute which required them to camp in the area with no shade . It is highly recommended that if you have even the slightest interest in attending...please call and make a reservation. You can always cancel later and get a refund!

This year we have a few sponsors that will be providing their product for everyone including a local brewery and well known coffee company. More information on the schedule of events will be provided as we get closer to the rally. Shirts will be available once a logo rally is put together.

I made our reservation and hope we can actually make it...first time to a Texas rally! Looking forward to meeting everyone...looks like a good time!

Just to let everyone know that if you have a large breed dog, you might not be allowed to attend this rally.The fact that our dog holds obedience title's made no difference.Really wanted to attend.Have a great time.

I have 4 of the large beasts ... they are better behaved than most children ... mine included.

Just spoke with the park ... the large breeds that they do not allow include german shepherd, pit bull, and some others that they obviously think will run rampant over the place. Two of my dogs are in the banned mix and I guess we will pass on this one. Too bad, cause we were wanting to meet some of the folks on the forum.

Unfortunately we have had this issue of certain breeds not being allowed at this park. while I feel it is a crock, many parks in this area (especially those near water) are banning most dogs over 15 pounds. We may look at moving to a different park due to continued problems with this since many people are unable to attend.

Greetings everyone,

It's just under three months until we will be having fun in the sun on the San Marcos River. A few folks are still waiting to see how their affairs will end up before being able to commit, but we have a great group of returning folks with several new attendees so far.

Some perks for this event include beer being provided by New Braunfels Brewing Company and Coffee/Tea by Independence Coffee Company in Brenham, TX. It is great to see several local purveyors proving their fare for all to sample.

While it has been a pretty mild winter here in San Antonio, we are looking forward to hitting the river and enjoying the event for once in our own trailer.

Hey Chris!

That is outstanding news. We weren't sure if you would be able to make it with the new baby and all, but we are very happy to to hear your family will be there.

On a side note, there are only nine spots available that are in the shade for this event...and they will go fast. In the June heat it will not be fun to end up in the "no man's" land without shade. Call and grab yourself a spot before it is too late!
