Texas Piney Woods Rally - The Sequel

Ok, so lets talk about doing this again.

When
I looked at the calendar on here and looks like November is pretty open so I'm thinking November 9th - 11th. Doesn't interfere with the opening of hunting season in Texas for the hunters and it's not the weekend before Thanksgiving where everyone is scrambling to get ready to party and feast.

Where
Personally I liked where we had it last year. I don't think we had any issues, at least not that I heard of. The people that ran the park were nice and it seemed to be kept up. It had a nice pavilion where we all ate at. For those of you who missed out last year it was at Mill Creek Park at Lake Sam Rayburn, link below. I checked their website and all of the sites in the C & A Loop where we stayed last year are available. Joshua lives closer, not sure if he can confirm if the park is still in good shape or not. I couldn't this weekend but I could make a day trip next weekend to check it out if needed.
Mill Creek at Sam Rayburn

Of course all would be welcome, even previous hosts who are now airstream-less.

So let's make a call on When & Where and then we can get into everything else. What's everybody think??

I just got to watch out for Frenchy. Last year my son wasn't old enough to wield the hammer Frenchy was so anxious to teach him how to use but this year is a different story. Got to keep him convinced that daddy does NOT need help working on the trailer.

Knowing Frenchy, how to use a hammer would be the LAST thing I would worry about Frenchy teaching my son to do!

I don't know about all the sites but mine did not have sewer. I'll look at the website later and see if they have full hook up sites.

And I will keep my son close. Very close.

Boy seeing this thread really hits me at the heart....

Ronnie glad to see you taking charge, Im so glad everyone had such a great time last year that yall are putting it together again. Im sad to say we still dont have an Airstream......life is kinda on hold for us at the moment, Mrs S finishes up nursing school in December and were looking to put our house up for sale and relocate somewhere where she will have better opportunity for jobs.
So that kinda shut us down on building my shop and getting us another AS till we get situated again.

I have the itch I assure you! Mrs S can confirm Im always jumping up and down to buy LOL!

As for Mill Creek Park its as lovely as you all remember it last. The lake is up, the same people are running it and its still relaxing and peaceful as ever.

To answer the questions about full hookups, no there are no full hookups at Mill Creek Park. I cant think of any parks on Rayburn that have full hookups....

We do have a camper but its not an AS, I checked my schedule to see if we could pull off a suprise visit for the dates Ronnie checked and Ill be working as all ways

Ronnie if there is ANYTHING I can do to help you out just shoot me a PM and I will do whatever I can to help you plan it out.

Mrs S and I miss you all very much and HOPEFULLY 2013 will be the year I get to build another AS! Fingers and toes crossed!

Mr. S

This one should be a good way to start. Just a nice relaxed get together.

Actually last years is the one and only rally we've been too.

Mr. S, wish you two could make it out. Hopefully we can get it organized and enough people want to come that it'll be as enjoyable as last years was.

I need to read through last years thread again to see what all we need to get organized.

I will second that. It was our first rally as well and it was great, just a bunch of folks with all sizes and year models of AS enjoying a nice park, some great weather and good company.

Riverone, already feel like we know you thanks to the photo you shot earlier this summer as we made our way back from Lake Catherine on I-30.

Ronnie

I'll be glad to take care of the name tags for the pot luck and the rally placards with everyone's Forums handle so we can put online personas and real life faces together....

And we vote for Mill Creek again and Nov. 9-11 looks great

Will attend

Mrs J and I will attend.

Mrs J and I retired so we are ready to rally. Our strategy is to lose our jobs and keep our Airstream.

Would love to come this year. Can't remember what happened last year to keep us from coming. Thanks for putting it together.

The last one happened before I bought my Airstream, and before joining the AirForums. Didn't know what I was missing…

Should be able to attend this one, since it coincides with the Veteran's Day weekend and it's within my one-day driving range from New Orleans. Put me down as a "Yes, I will attend."

According to the link in Post #1, Mill Creek Park, run by the Corps of Engineers, has water and electric hookups, but no sewer hookups. Which is typical for CoE parks. There are 110 sites total. For that weekend, sites in Area 3 (numbered higher than 97) are "walk-up only." Areas 1 and 2 (Numbers 001 through 096) are reservable, and very few have already been reserved. They DO accept the Interagency Access Pass (yay, me!) and Interagency Senior Pass for half-price discounts.

Addendum (on edit) -

I've found a map of the Mill Creek Park for planning purpises. See link.

You can always cover the sides of Mr. & Mrs. S's trailer that they bring in ALUMINUM foil so at least it is shiny like an Airstream
