Hi Jim and Cheryl,
Thanks for taking this on and everything sounds great; put us down for a salad for the chili dinner. We're in for the dinner at the hotel also and the 'outings' too. Sounds fun! Unfortunately, we won't be able to carpool......Cosmo takes up the whole back area....
Looking forward to seeing our 'Air' friends!
Carolyn and Loren

Hotel dinner Saturday

Great! Everyone but Wascobob has responded (I've PM'd him tonight). Looks like a full crew. I'll call the Hotel and tell them to expect 18 (I've counted everyone twos except for JD & Jeff). Let me know if you're bringing friends that we don't know about. They will be happy to have us (as long as we behave )!!

Cheers,

You will have to call the Steens Mountain RV park at 1 800 542 3765 and reserve your spot. Talk to Carol and identify yourself as being in the Airstream Rally. Make sure to give her the dates, the 16th to the 20th. She will group us all together.

Cheers, CJ[/QUOTE]

Question: The dates appear here the 16th to the 20th. Looks like from the other posts that actually people will be arriving the 17th and leaving the 21st. We made our reservations to arrive the 16th and leave the 20th. What did I miss here?

Chili night: will bring a fruit salad, onions, cheese, hopefully some tomatoes from our garden.

Dinner sounds like a good evening. But I do hope that we all behave ---haha, do they serve the good stuff, wine, martinis, after dinner liqours???

Looking forward to our 1st rally. Have been told by many that we will have a great time.

I don't think you've missed anything. Chris originally intended this to be a longer rally, since it was in an isolated location. This depends on how long it will take to get to and from the rally and how much time total you have in your schedule. There's certainly lots to do in the area once you get there. Judging by the time people have indicated on this thread, most people will be arriving on the 17th and leaving on the 20th or 21st. You can arrive and depart anytime you wish... and I'm sure the RV Park will allow you to change your dates if you want to.

And.......you will have a good time (they do serve alcohol at the Hotel)!!

After looking at the calendar I believe that we can stay until the 21st. Will call tomorrow and confirm exactly what dates I have reserved. New to all of this.

For the potluck what type of meat do people typically have??? Something that has a short/long cooking time? Chicken will certainly take longer than a hamburger.

Now I just need to get busy checking that I have everything we might need packed, as it appears this will be our most remote trip so far.

Does anyone know if the RV park will have ice available?

Sempi2,

You can ask Carol at the RV Park if they have ice when you call about your reservations, otherwise I think the closest will be Burns. I'm going to make another call there myself to arrange the talk by Josh, former BLM employee and find out more about their amenities (ie if it's windy and cold, can we use their community room to gather). Your fridge should keep up on ice-making if you change out the trays often.

As to the chicken on the barby.....you can grill as long as you want, there's no limit! I've done ribs at a rally once....took quite a while, but was worth it!

I've most often seen folks bring steak, chops and chicken parts to a BYOM BBQ. Last time we did this I also saw kabobs, salmon steaks and some sausages. What ever you feel like eating

Thank you, looking forward to meeting everyone.

Will ask about the ice, but I do have an ice machine that I could load (without RustyRivet seeing - as he thinks it is a total waste). But if they don't have ice we would need more - don't have a very big fridge & I tend to overpack so I usually take a cooler.

It's fairly common for folks to go to town (yes - I know town is some distance). we can send a cooler along and have someone stock up on ice. We usually bring a cooler as well. I bet my fridge is smaller than yours... I keep produce in the cooler and the rest in the fridge. I am really looking forward to this rally - it's been a long and hectic summer - I need a break

So far (6 trips) we have not had issues with the fridge. It runs in the safe zone while on electric, but on the propane it gets just above the safe zone.

Guess I am a little paranoid about keeping things cool.

I have been keeping produce and fruits, beer and Mikes in the cooler. So I will look forward to seasoned streamers for what to pack and how to carry things. Plus any menu ideas
