'Springstream' Rally N. Ga 2009
Our Falluminum Rally at Lake Chatuge's GA Mountain Fair was another great weekend.
The April dates for the Springstream Rally at the same park might be
April 3-5
This choice because Easter is April 12, Cherry Blossom Rally ( some of our folks attend this) is probably the 17 weekend, although not yet announced. The 18 is also a special event at the Mountain Fair.
Let's discuss it a bit. I wish it could work for the weekend of Easter, because we have off the week prior for Spring Break, but I understand that just will not work for many who would like to attend.
With it being April 3-5, we can stay a few extra days into the week of our break.
Ideas? Gripes? Opinions?

My crew can't do it on Easter Weekend (due to family obligations), April 17-19 (due to pet sitting obligations--yes, folks have already asked for us that weekend) or May 1-3 (due to a bluegrass festival that we volunteer at every year). So long story short, April 3-5 would work best for us.

I'm hoping we can attend the Springstream in '09 since we missed it in '08 and since we had to bail on the Falluminum at the last minute this year, but it is a little early for us to commit. We do have our regular spring break plans so the first two weekends in April are spoken for. I seem to remember that my younger son has his Cub Scout Cub-o-Ree around the third weekend in April so it isn't looking too good for us anyway you cut it. So I'll keep an eye on this thread in the hopes we can make it just in case.

Date of Cherry Blossum Rally April 2-5, 2009
FYI... I contacted the Cherry Blossum Rally folks and the dates are April 2-5, 2009.
Below is the email I received.
From: Danee Alaniz To: Aston, Geven
Sent: Thu Nov 13 17:19:18 2008
Subject: Re: Do you have any dates locked in for the Cherry Blossom rally yet?
Hi Geven: The CBR is scheduled for April 2-5, 2009. Look for information at the beginning of January for CBR registration on the WDCU website. Thanks, Kim PS: Where would the Springstream event be?

Haven't talked with Susan about this yet, Geven, but this sounds like a good road trip.
Alan...........Hmmmmmm...........ya know, I wonder something.........
I ride BMW motorcycles. At their rallies they give out trophies for many categories. Most often kinda joke stuff.............long distance, oldest rig, oldest riders, largest club........on and on........Perhaps this is a possibility for the "stream" events?.....just thinkin out loud.......Dennis

Dennis, The fall rally of '06, Alan gave a recognition award for the favorite trailer of the campout. No surprise it went to one sharp looking Tradewind owned by Sugarfoot.

we also gave farthest distance travelled. It was fun. I think that first weekend of April may be my best option, I just got invited to play in England the first weekend of May.
Is anyone open to MAY 7-9??? That would preclude most of the stuff that has come up som far.

Alan, if you came from England to the Rally, you would probably win.
In the Poll, with the information available at the time, I voted for April 3-5, but with the new intelligence submitted for our review and digestion , I would now vote for May 7-9 (or for us May 7-10) if that were possible.
(I did move to Georgia from Illinois, where Chicago's Mayor Daley was rumored to say "vote early, vote often").
Your mission, should you accept, is to make yourself happy and those of us who can join, will. Or something like that...good luck.

Ok I am partial to 5/8- 5/9 I know it was not in the poll, but I didn't know about the UK trip until afterwards.
How is that y' all. We know the weather should be spectacular.

Unfortunately, Ruth and I will be out of town for a week during the 5/8 to 5/9 time frame and wouldn't be able to make it then. I would much rather go to Springstream April 3-5 than the CBR given a choice since we enjoy the people and event so much. With that said, May 1-3rd was our first choice but since the people make the event and Alan wouldn't be able to make it then. My new first choice would be April 3-5th. I'm not sure how many folks were planning to go to the CBR??? Sugarfoot??? A-Merry-Can??
But then again, if we are the only ones that can't make it 5/8 and 5/9, "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few", if it works out that way, we'll look forward to seeing you guys at Falluminum '09!
Hey Alan, What do think of killing the poll and starting a fresh one?

My new first choice would be April 3-5th. We can't make anything after April 24-26.

ha! At least we can't book spots until Jan 1. We are kinda sorta maybe planning to attend the CBR, but we have a trip to the UK in April, too. Julie wants to go back to the castle we got married in for our anniversary. That should be nice and cheap, huh? ha! When are you going, Alan? PM me.
Cheerio, laddies!

Looks like we are going to be free both weekends first part of April so we should be able to make it no matter which weekend it is scheduled...but I'm still partial to a May weekend even the later weekend in May.

I think it is a great thing you are doing organizing these trips. I would love to come up from Loganville and do one of your get togethers. I can't because I teach school which does not start until 9 A.M. and cannot get out of work until 5. P.M. 45 minute drive home and then it is already dark. I have five more years and I will be able to retire and do all the trips. Yaaaa hooooo!!

Lothlorian, I still work and its about a 45 minute drive for me as well. By the time I get home, eat a quick bite, change out of my suit, hook up and load the family, it's at least 7:30 or later before we hit the road. We have been to the Falluminum and Springstream and both times we got there around 10-10:30. It was 10:00 when we got to the End-of-the-Summer Rally Thang and Sugarfoot held the lantern while I backed downhill into our site and lit the corner of our pad so I could see where I wanted to line up the wheels. We have checked into Ft. Wilderness at 2:30 AM before. When we go to the Can Opener it is usually 1-1:30 AM when we get down there...you can do it if you can tow in the dark and can level up and connect a water hose and shore power by flashlight or lantern. We've had plenty of practice from the very first trip we took. All you need is a Red Bull and a talkative spouse to make it anywhere at anytime.

I'm not sure both of those together are worth it.

we teach too, and we leave Friday after school and get there at like 7:30 or so. The main thing is Saturday anyway.
So maybe you CAN make one.
I am for sure going to the UK first week in May , so its either the week after mother's day the 15-17th or the first weekend in April.
I have a major birthday on the 19th so the 17 would be kinda fun I guess. Shall we take another poll
