yes Jim, but the Vintage folks had asked us to hold some sites for them together. I don't know that anyone specifically booked one.
4 weeks from tomorrow y'all!

Ron, of course the weather between now and then will dictate how warm the water gets, but it will likely be the high 50s and, with luck, into the very low 60s.

Ron, the water temperature will be different, depending on if you are touching your finger to the edge of the water, or a quarter mile out trying to claw your way out of the water. As in all things, things are relative.

Too cold for me, but that did not stop Sally and Don from swimming at the 09 Springstream. Kate and I shook our heads and sipped hot coffee.
This was the same morning a gray squirrel fell out of the tree next to us and landed some 10 feet away. I'm not sure who was more surprised, him or us.

If the air temp is forecast into 70s, we can chance it...(but we'll probably leave the stand up on the trailer unless you bring your wet suit!)

Boats
Speaking about the water...anyone remember these? At one Rally we had at least 3 Feathercraft///Atlanta built aluminum boats...with vintage outboards too.
So very cool!! Lots of fine memories from the many years of these get togethers.

I remember the featherlights. So cool! I also remember bringing our canoes and that was fun. Thinking about bringing a kayak this time. No decision yet. Will see what the g-child thinks.

I am thinking about heading that way in a couple of weeks. Any good boondocking or low budget spots within a few miles of the area? This a long drive for me so trying to extend the trip to make it worthwhile. I do plan on attending the rally the following week at TOG.

One of our favorite campgrounds is Standing Indian, in (Franklin?) NC just north of Hiawassee in the Nantahala Forest. Really pretty, can't recall the rates but very reasonable; sites are boon docking. Great hikes right from the campground as well. And if you have the interest, one of our favorite restaurants is just a bit west in down town Franklin, NC - a place called Cafe Rel. It is located in a gas station, but don't give it a thought. No reservations, cash only (if I remember correctly).

We received the recall notice, so we took the trailer back to Knoxville for the fix...as well as the two leaks, taillights, broken antenna, black tank sensor, and fresh water pump. However, it should be ready in time for the event (gosh we hope so!).
We've decided to name her "1978 Jaguar XJS".

That's my favorite pic of our camper. It was taken by Jordan and he sent it to me later after the event. We were camped across the street that year (section 1?) because of some event at the fairgrounds. That night was absolutely beautiful, I remember that. The moon reflecting off of the near still water.

2006... Alan, I think this was your trailer from my kayak. Many good memories from Hiawassee over the years.

And we seem to get a young crowd at Springstream.
